i feel like my eyes just scroll past about 90% of the threads on here at any given time. alden is in that camp for me. though there is this weird voyeuristic feeling I get whenever i peek into that thread or the some of the other insular convos on here. it's like stumbling onto a group of rare primates in the wild or something. but then i realize the primates are just sitting around picking lice off each other and it's not too interesting to me so i go back about my business

what's that psychological/sociological term where people hate a similar group of people because they're too much like them that it freaks them out?

It's got the fanaticism of both the Epaulets and TOJ threads combined and more.

Plus, they don't use the thumbs system.  Most of the time pictures will get quoted and requoted with a simple "nice".  I think it's the demographic, skewed older.  Can't use eRep or multi-quote. Nephew and uncle talk is a bit weird.

I heard MC over the wall is a bit weird.  Maybe Alden belongs over there...but if it did, I would have never gotten some nice pairs.
And, as you can see, you too feed the beast!

just sounds like hypocrisy. don't know if there's a more specific term. probably is. there always is.

for the record, not hating on the alden thread. i think the forum is mostly insular mini-communities that all of us belong to. i'm sure people look at the geller thread, for instance, and have the same reaction i described above. we're all just lice-munching gorillas in the conceptual forest®

Always dress for the position you want, not the position you have. teacha.gif
