I think the max you can get per lost bag is around $500. I've often thought about insuring my clothes for the difference but have never gotten around to it.

It makes sense for them to pay the amount they do since there's really no way of telling what was really in there. Insurance exists for a reason.
I'm sure showing them my receipts would get a rise out of them though. Sup sq4

They don't care what you had in the bag and what receipts you have. Every airline has their own flat rate compensation per baggage.

The fear of losing my bags is why I'm probably gonna start packing my clothes in carry-on only in the future.

I used to travel a lot for work and lost bags are really common on multi-leg flights. They almost always find them and deliver them eventually, but insurance is a good idea if you're carrying stuff worth a lot of cash. The insurance I had for work kicked in after a bag was lost for only 24 hours so you could go buy what you needed, it was used quite a bit. smile.gif

packing my stuff in a single carry-on bag makes for such a smoother experience than checking luggage. and not just because the airline might lose checked bags. it's just a more zen-tastic way to travel.

Oh, also, does anyone have any licorice recommendations? Of all types, but particularly salmiakki-style fish. Gimme the good stuff, the hard-hitters, the candies that drip with anise and licorice root and other herbaceous goodness.

I'm always terrified of bringing my good shit to NY for that reason so I just bring apc and uniqlo. Need to start doing the carryon for real heat and check in for replaceable shit.

Unfortunately I can't share snake's sentiment.

PS. I hate licorice and anything flavored as such.

Wait, Synth, aren't you near boulder? Go to Peppercorn, they got the hard-hitting dutch stuff. So fishy salty.
I can't stand that place. But thanks, I guess I'll check it out.

Find a local scandinavian expat shop and ask for salty licorice.
