I don't understand the direction of music right now. I mean, I've tried to listen to macklemore and it's so fucking boring.

where's the tupac of the 2010s?

also I like really strange gospel/country music, ie:

The problem is you're looking for "the Tupac of the 2010s."

we should all worship at the church of tupac. i mean, i think that early 90s / late 80s rap music was just objectively better than shit like macklemore. yea it's less ironic and clever, but irony gets old quickly, while sampling inspector gadget lives on forever.

also i watched cloud atlas. was.. pretty interesting. it had a sense of scale i appreciated, but the frenetic cutting was annoying.

I can't stand Macklemore, but Tupac is pretty overrated in the scheme of things. They are many many many great rappers working today.

Few people have/ever did have the range that Pac did.

Freddie Gibbs is pretty much the only hope right now... maybe Big K.R.I.T., but people who aren't fans of Southern rap will likely automatically reject most of his work (I'm excluding backpack/hipster whatever the fuck rappers - I would even put people who I like such as Brother Ali in this category).

As far as locally, IamSu! is probably the next bay artist who doesn't just make pure pop/r&b. His last mixtape was pretty solid.

"Thrift shop" has an OK beat, but remains a sub-par song. The video also sucks. I would probably rather hear Trinidad James (2).

Cloud Atlas was a shitty book that was difficult to read for the sake of being difficult to read.

i don't know what mackelmore is, i'm not too good with pop culture i guess. i thought taylor swift was an actor lol

anyway i was checking out youtube and the front page had something about harlem shake i was thinking oh cool a throwback video lets check it out. to my horror it was some attempt at inducing seizures in viewers worldwide.

that was not the harlem shake, all these fake@$$ niqqas need to stop

this is the harlem shake

oh and fistbump.gif on tupac but still got love for the b.i.g. too

i didn't know about those goat videos until a professor showed one to our class today. maybe i'm the only one, but the appeal of funny animal videos is somewhat lost on me. oh and i always thought gangnam style was really lame
