In my experience the Red Wings are pretty shitty on the comfort/leather quality front. Mine started creasing really unattractively after 1 wear.

Are there any photos of these floating around? they sound great.

I'm completely ignorant when it comes to clothing repair/alteration, so I appreciate the suggestion. (I wouldn't have known what Jo Ann is otherwise.)

As far as the why, well, I'm sure you can guess that I don't feel the same way as you regarding how army trainers look without laces... which is why I ask. In any case, thanks for the rec; I'll see what's available, and then I'll just mess around til I get it right I suppose.

you can buy elastic in strips of varying width. it's really cheap. as far as actually sewing it in.. I dunno, you'd probably have to do it by hand with a thicker thread?

Hmmm... I wonder if this would work on a pair of Raf pants I never wear because they're just a touch too loose, but not enough that I want to bring to a tailor, and have no belt loops.

Yeah, I was wondering how exactly that would work. I'll probably get one of my handier friends to guide me through that.

Trickers are by far the best, actually have a pair of dark espresso brogues I'm about to list that may fit you

Our Legacy is made by Sanders, which is the company that makes Mark McNairy etc. Like some materials they use but it's sanders and may not be using full grains

Red Wings are sleek shape wise, not sure about build / leather.
