Minimalist wardrobe is seriously overrated. Some justifications are cool (mobility, lack of funds, don't really like clothing as much anymore) but otherwise it's just dudes gettin all wet over having a bunch of pure, aryan khakis and jeans and shirts that you can mix and match like a barbie closet
I'd love to see someone with a full techninja (e.g. outlier, acronym, stone island shadow project, etc.) wardrobe but without making it look survivalist.

recently thinking of trying out Balenciaga jeans. Does anyone here have any kind of experience? I had read they were similar to DH cut, which was the same reason I thought I'd try them.

I think a minimal wardrobe works for people whose comfort level declines greatly as they stray away from their "favorite" stuff. Even before I joined this site, I felt most comfortable in a leather moto jacket, a tee, jeans, and boots. Part of why I joined and started posting was because I outgrew the jacket I loved and was looking to feel nearly as comfortable in other styles as i did in the original jacket. If you dug around you could probably find my unfortunate WAYWT posting history around that time, because even then, i felt most comfortable in a pleather moto jacket (was a vegetarian at that time), jeans (now APC instead of TR) and boots (now clarks or military surplus combat boots instead of timberlands) and, while I wanted, attempted, and, to an extent, got a handle on in different aesthetic directions, I wasn't nearly as happy in that clothing as I was in my bread-and-butter. Now that I can afford "real" clothing (and have grown out of vegetarianism) my go-to casual look is a ToJ moto, a Tee, APC's (now black), and Boots (currently deciding btw Black Aldens, Paul Smith Ricards, Trickers and Butteros or CP Officer's boots for my major F/W '11 purchase--no need for chunky black boots in the summer). It's what I like wearing the most, and I really don't see the need to spend money on clothing that isn't going to make me feel nearly as good as the style i know i like, feel good in and want to invest in.

the officer's boots look amazing but the construction is ****. why not find something slightly more visually interesting? margiela, buttero's a good choice, F+B has some interesting choices that usually make it to sales - vass if you're really tickled with yourself. Personally, I only find aldens intriguing when they're worn slightly out of context, and based on what you've posted your wardrobe doesn't really seem quirky enough to make them look like anything more than nice black boots, no offense.

Also, I'll probably wear my black boots all summer long.

the ricards are probably the most versatile out of that bunch.

versatility is overrated though; jack of all trades, master of none. the fact that they're not overly sleek like margielas or york boots or kinda preppy like trickers or kinda military like butteros or cps etc means they probably won't take anything away from a fit, but they're not gonna add anything.

and that's my problem with minimalism.

I'm going to rotate out ph chukkas for chocolate margiela side zips soon. Will bring patent black vandals back into rotation in preparation for summer.

I just don't want to think about getting dressed any more. I want quirky things that fit and go together. In fun colors. I'm tired of neutrals.

nah but seriously, keep your neutrals. I've got a **** ton of crazy colours now, need to pick up some neutrals. Check out pinkpantser's fits, he usually uses that grey background to wear some distinctive colours and patterns.

I'm finding that i can't wear all my crazy colours together because it either looks too matchy matchy, or they completely clash.
