it's over $5 to ship priority flat rate envelope in the US, and canada is like $19 now instead of $13 IIRC

My wife just did the math a few months ago and the best deal all in is the Costco Amex, but you have to have a membership to Costco. If you don't want to go the Amex route, just get a Capital One Visa/MC. I don't believe there is an annual fee and there are very few restrictions on using the travel points.

Why wouldn't you use it for bar tabs?

Eh, USPS has a lot of fiscal problems. They have to do whatever they can to keep from going into default.

so go pay fedex or ups

or raise taxes to keep the for-loss business model afloat

I bet if it didn't exist the other couriers wouldn't be forced to operate at higher costs either

I do sometimes, but a) it's easier to pay with cash and makes it less likely to drop $100+ in one night and b) there's several bars around here where I'm friends with the bartender so I just give them a big cash tip and drink for free

 

 

It's not a business, it's a service with split funding... by that logic we should do away with public transportation too

i walk a lot anyway, makes for more billowing fabrics surrounding me.

eh the trains are only late because we don't fund them, most of europe and some of asia you can set your watch by them

I didn't want something to 'complain about', I'm pissed that USPS has to compensate for their atrocious fiscal management and horrible customer service by raising shipping rates, making it harder and more expensive to ship things. USPS is not an unsustainable business, it's a business that's been destroyed by a lack of standards, horrible use of resources, and stupid employees. moral hazard and all that.

It's been destroyed by Congress screwing them over on pension allocation, the service itself is fine.

RFT: pretty unimpressed with Creatures of Comfort online store front; placed 2 separate orders 2 weeks apart, and both times the item I ordered was out of stock. I also had to send multiple emails to actually be notified that the item was OOS. On the other hand, Machus has proved to be an awesome store. They've been very prompt at answering emails, provided additional pictures of an item I was wondering about, and they emailed me my tracking number about 20 minutes after I placed my order. Very highly recommend them.
