the reason I don't like the super extended G&G style lasts is that they look so strange on the foot.. it's so narrow/long that it creases way up the shoe because there's 2 inches of shoe extended past your toes

hey Teger where can I find a navy hat like this?

TIA

you just want a navy fitted? custom ebbets flannel or borsalino. http://www.barneys.com/Borsalino-Solid-Baseball-Cap/501903532,default,pd.html?index=0 they make that in navy

I have two Ebbets, I wonder if they can shorten the rim a little like Ervell. Thank you.

Also, Borsalino is real cool. Seen it worn here but cannot find the exact same one that is O/S

Whenever I see some member drooling over Vass U, G&G or C&J 348 I tend to think "old people" but apparently that is not the case so I don't know what sort of demographic actually corresponds to this aesthetic. Old people? Dandy geezers? WASP? New money dandies? Those very sculpted lasts only coordinate well with equally tailored clothing so yeah... they are like at the other end of the spectrum from SW&D.

lol. Well, they are smart guys, but style is not their forte. There have been plenty of times when I've lol'ed at suggestions. The relationship is symbiotic. I've learned a lot about startups, how to run one, funding, ramps, etc... and they now know names like Mismo, Isaia, and Jun Hashimoto, and they've seen some really high quality goods up close (most people never do. If you see a piece of Globetrotter luggage up close and personal, you understand the price, even if it is mainly decorative and compared to ballistic nylon or 21 ounce canvas, completely non-functional. If you handle Girling&Gaziano shoes, you understand why they cost over $1K, even if you'd never pay that, nor even want to wear them.

In my opinion this nicely sums up the difference between junhashimoto and wjk. Jun is like wjk, but with the serious/dark elements mostly removed and replaced with a more sporty aesthetic. In this sense it directionally represents the antithesis of SZ: less serious, less heavy, less dark, and less full of self importance.
Brad has expressed disapproval of the sportiness that continues to creep into Jun's collections, but I actually like it. While you can still construct a "goth ninja lite" style outfit using some of the pieces in his collections, the majority of his pieces are no longer like this. I can honestly see someone who wears stuff like Stephan Schneider or forum members such as Hendrix wearing his stuff.
Perhaps you could do a styleforum exclusive interview with him and post it to the forum?

Possibly. We are scheduled to meet with him, I think. His English is limited, which prevented more coverage last time, but this time we have Rach, who, if I'm not mistaken, speaks good Japanese. Would you guys like that? Would you not be entertained?

Well, I wear clothes that might be best described as "Dark Americana", and only chunky lasts really work for me, but there are lots of ways to interpret SW&D. The sleek lasts would look right at home with Hedi Slimane's designs, for example. SW&D co-opts a lot of classical menswear for its own ends.

A Jun Hashimoto interview would be fantastic.
