It's half satire. I'm not really into the whole wink-and-nod thing, (except at the very end, I guess), and generally, it doesn't work. Part of what I love about someone like Stephen Colbert is that although it's obviously a joke, you can tell that Steven Colbert loves the Steven Colbert character. I actually read Monocle and enjoy it. I want to read about Scandanivian restaurants where all the ingredients are foraged. I sorta want to live in a world where beautiful Asian couples take weekend trips to Hokkaido on oddly uncrowded trains, wearing Hermes coats and carrying Globetrotter luggage. Sometimes, you just gotta embrace it and understand the silliness of the whole thing at the same time.
Earnestness is the enemy of humor. I guess that that would be my main criticism of Stylezeitgeist. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the readers don't really understand what it is to laugh at themselves.
