I'd disagree with you. Yes baller purchases that fit one right and aren't styled in terrible contexts may be a fast track to SF adulation which apparently results in a "style identity", but there are plenty of guys that kill it without such crutches.
mellowfellow, my personal favorite fit poster, consistently kills it and he does it without rick/yohji/schneider/guidi. I think Ervell is almost as baller/SF-approved as he gets (Besides that boo jacket he has), and imo Ervell's status on this forum is at least partly driven by the quality of his fits.
Who would disagree that mellowfellow has a refined and consistent style? Or I guess "style identity."
Mellow has quite a few baller pieces, and I think you're romanticizing his fits or something just because he has been known to wear a lot of cheaper stuff as well (he was always the "Uniqlo can look good" posterchild). Inverallan, CP, BoO, Ervell, all super SF approved. His fits are amazing, but I don't have any idea why you're calling baller purchases crutches. If you're lumping in Schneider with your category then Ervell most definitely belongs there, and has been hyped since before Schneider made it really big on the forums.
