They are harmless enough and get away from GAT styling or 3-stripes, etc w/out biting the CP look too hard. Much as I respect people's footwear game, I can't get behind CP prices bit that's just me.

Yeah pretty much this, I prefer the shape of CPs but I think a lot of people can't get behind the price of those, and if you want some cheap very simple and clean sneakers, there hasn't been many options until recently (only really know of these and perhaps the soloist x adidas ones)

Some guy is trying to sell his made in france pair for $250 on the bay. bah

nations- I believe production is on hold for 3 (?) years or so.
