Random fashion thoughts - Page 4579

Been trying to lock down my footwear game lately and this is what i decided was 'necessary'. Your results may vary. Did I miss anything?

Boots
1 x mid-height lace up - black (augusta, carpe/wjk, buttero, guidi, etc)
1x side-zip - black (carpe/wjk, mmm, ndc, ccp, etc)
1x side-zip grey or brown (^)
1x some form of white/offwhite - (kind of superfluous)

Shoes
1x 'nice' shoe - black (cp wedge sole, raf/jil derby, etc)
1x grungy derby - black/grey (10 seiwhateverthefuck, moma, andrew mcdonald, carpe/wjk, etc)

Sneakers
1x high-top - black/white (rick dunks, silent, kva, raf, mmm, etc)
1x low-top - black/white (MARGELLONS)

Only need one or two more things on the list, plus some I plan to upgrade. Feels good.

Is drew willing to take up the mantle of uncle?

1x grungy derbies (haven't worn in over a year since they were suede and somebody spilled a rum and coke all over them, should try them out again soon)
Sneakers
1x high-top - white
2x low-top - one white / one neon blue
 

If I bought anything else it would probably be a pair of white artisanal-type side-zips, but I certainly don't need them.  I could also totally live without the blue sneakers and hightops, but they're just fun to have.  I don't know if I'd have much use for a derby, I'd say I could live on two pairs of boots and one pair of white sneakers, the rest is extra.

There is definitely a lot of hyperbole and excitement in the Toj thread, but I don't think that's a fair comparison.

Boooo. I once saw a Youtube video where a dude cleaned his filthy suede shoes by dousing them with running water from a faucet. He then stuffed the shoes with white tissue/paper towels and let them dry for a while. If your shoes are unwearable anyway thanks to your friend Mr. Spillypants, it's worth a try.

No, really, there's a world of difference between what Epaulet produces and what Toj produces. You can't just extract the excited reactions without considering them in context.

i wasn't really trying to say that its a 1-1 comparison, just that there is a lot of hyperbole in that thread, and frequently some not-so-great fits with a ton praise because its a toj. i actually really like a lot of toj products, im thinking of getting a bomber even, just theres some it/engineering types maybe shouldnt be buyin a black leather DR, namsayin? and no one ever says anything about that in the thread

FWIW, WvG shirts are nicer than Epaulet (IME), but I gotta go with Epaulet for the added sleeve length.

after mauro blew up on brad a few years ago i decide i in't really want to buy wvg shirts. i don't have the time to find the quote but it's pretty damn homophobic/offensive. i'd rather not support someone like that.

Fair enough, though I do think that if something looks off in the Toj thread, people are willing to say it – including Drew.

Also, it's my birthday today. I'm 24 now.
