I've decided to just become a high school teacher. 15 weeks off, full benefits, and $70,000 a year doesnt sound half bad. I could always do something on the side.

A law degree is not a bad thing to have anyway.

a law degree is nice, but $250,000 in student loans not so much

Didn't know you guys pay that much.

I thought I was fucked with my $80k.

That's a massive ripoff, seriously. Consider plumbing.

tuition at my state school is going up 8% next year smile.gif

If you're not getting in-state tuition state schools are a pretty bad deal. I can't imagine why people would pay ~45k to go to UW, for example, when they could just as easily go to somewhere like Northeastern or Brown and get aid.

Yeah you definitely don't get 15 weeks off (there are meetings and PD all the time) and you are working on average 60-80ish hours a week the first few years. You don't grade and plan during the school day and you have to deal with a lot of bs. Depending on how your school is funded you may have to get a lot of materials on your own. If you teach at a nice school, then you have to deal with crazy parents all the time and if your numbers don't hit benchmarks you are screwed.

I'm making about half of what the consulting offers I had and working probably more hours than I would have doing consulting but at least I'm making a difference in the future of many of my kids

Indiana was cheaper than a UC when you don't get aid nor big scholarships

Also really random question but does UPS delete updates if they mess up? Paid two day air service, and they shipped (with final destination as socal) to NorCal for some reason, put on delivery truck, then realized that label said socal and had to take it down to LA. They didn't speed it up and it got delivered two days after. Now when I go check tracking it shows only order ready and delivery. Nothing about the messup or anything like that. You can still see the original label with the correct address as well

3.8 cum, my school is sort of a middle of the road private college. That doesn't matter too much though if I get a good LSAT score, paired with my decent gpa. I'm shooting for schools ranked between 14 and 9 or so.

These posts are actually pretty appealing, no idea what the track is to access them though
