Culling the closet feels as good as making new purchases.

At least everyone kept things fresh by flipping the script this year and losing their shit about math and LN-CC instead of the Porter sale.

I'm digging the new mobile version of SF on my iPad.

I recently bought an old (1996) Helmut Lang bomber. Though I expected a bit of wear, seller didn't mention anything in the listing or have any pictures showing it. When I received it, the ribbed cuffs were torn to shit - like not wearable. There were snags in many places (trimmed them with a sweater shaver to reduce appearance though), and the pocket stitching is a bit loose. The cuffs need to be replaced. I was recommended on sz to buy a pair off ebay and take them to a tailor. I was told this would be cheap (I think), but wanted a few more opinions if possible. Anyone done something similar to this before? I'm concerned about how noticeable it will be (if at all (too optimistic? redface.gif)) and how much it will cost. I know it will vary between tailors, but just an idea would be nice.

Also, I've contacted the seller about this. I did not pay as gift, so I have leverage I think. Any idea on how I should go about this? I've told him I deserve a partial refund but haven't heard back. I sent him two messages. He's been online since I sent the first one. Tsk tsk...

In other news, ugly sweater party next Friday. I wonder if that Raf from last fall is still available... nest.gif

If you really like the piece then yeah, maybe see what a tailor can do for you. I have an old lang coat that's been falling apart for some time now. Torn lining, loose stitching, buttons replaced, ect. "This one again" my tailor shouts every time I bring it back. Not giving up on it.
