Hoodcoat arrived today! Quick fits and some thoughts:

When the box arrived, I was immediately surprised at its weight. This jacket is HEAVY, at least 5 pounds, possibly 6 or 7. As I pulled it out, I realized it's also BIG. It stretches down to just above my knees, and the hood stands almost taller than when head even when folded down. Question: I notice it's from collection #31, how old does that make it?
The wool is insane, ultra thick and surprisingly stiff. Feels like repro Peacoat wool, like fabric I'd imagine Buzz Rickson to use haha. Wonderfully enough, despite its thickness, it drapes absolutely perfectly. Because of the heft and cut, everything falls exactly as it should and it's really hard to throw off the silhouette (the hood can occasionally go askew). The detailing is awesome as well, from the perfectly executed and super clean stitching/corners to the buttons to the hood's multipart construction, I have literally nothing to gripe about design-wise. It's also really really warm.
The fit is tremendous as well. Slim and heavily structured in the shoulder/chest and through the arms, with a drapier/more voluminous body. Because it's black and fitted in the upper block, the coat has a surprisingly slimming effect. It's one of those pieces you put on and instantly feel a million times cooler through no effort on your part (think a ToJ MDR).
I remember asking about a year back on the forums what all the hype was about regarding the Bless hoodcoat. I thought it was just a simple goodlooking piece, but didn't understand the fervent demand or high price. Now that I finally own one, it's a real duh moment for me. It's pure brilliance, and I'm absolutely ecstatic over it. Feels good man.
