How can it be that everyone on SF is looking for sidezips yet only us few talented ones seem to be able to find them?

there's only so much advice we can give...look->find->buy.

Possible factors: wanting the all black ones which are very popular, having a common shoe size so availability is less and competition is more, having less disposable income so that one may not have the cash when a pair comes up, missing a sale due to not being online at the right time/online enough

Yeah, I seem to see them pretty frequently. I assume people are trying to get them at the 'right price.' Why not just pay a bit more than what you saw them sell for one time and quit torturing yourself over them?

You don't actually want a pair yourself, do you? With the Yohji direction you've headed in I can't imagine it actually working into one of your outfits that well.
