i don't understand the presidential election.. does it go by citizen votes or "electoral votes"?

looking at this, it looks like romney has 2,000,000 more votes?

electoral, 270 wins you the presidency.

so 2,000,000 votes don't matter?

edit: I could care less who is the president.. could be Moo for all I care.. I just don't understand the way the voting works.

I don't think they included California's popular vote yet, but they did give him the electoral votes b/c it's a given.  

This. Also, for instance they're projecting Ohio to go to Obama even though its very close rightnow because the counties that aren't fullly reporting yet are overwhelmingly democratic so the margin is only going to get bigger
