Guessing it's mostly a case of "They should have run this design by a few more people." Doubtful the brand is intentionally making these covert references but it's a mighty coincidence to find them all in one place. Is the expression / design really worth alienating customers? Altho as LA Guy alluded to, maybe they were trying to get some attention with plausible deniability.

Sorry to keep this going, I think all sides have been heard from at this point.

You can use the code styleforum40 on: Nonnative, Hobo, SASQUATCHfabrix, SASQUATCHfabrix EOTOTO, Unused and Wacko Maria (excludes SS11 items). We just got that code this morning. SQ can also use it if he feels like pissing people off at discount. Yesterday, there was a private 40% off sale - prescient conspiracy.

I momentarily got excited about the Fred Perry cycling line, especially the jersey in the Molteni colors, only to realize that they are too short to actually be worn cycling.

My parents and relatives do that here still during holidays. I think it's because most people here have only had experience with the swastika when it comes to Nazi's and nothing more so it's a bigger deal. *shrugs*

so ln cc replied:

Hi Ben

Thank you for your email.

We were not aware of such connotations surrounding the collection. Having investigated further following your email we can see that there are some negative connotations associated with some of the symbols used, however this symbolism also have positive and affirming relations which predate them.

LN-CC obviously does not condone any negative associations and will follow this up with Sasquatch to seek further clarification regarding the AW “Contemporary Pirates” collection and let you know their response.

Best regards

Lucy

and come on. saying 'well it was a symbol 300 years ago!!' is meaningless. contexts change. we all know what '***' and 'gay' meant 50 years ago.

As soon as I can get my house sold and ride more, I'm gonna buy a couple repro wool jerseys and loads of Rapha.
