this doesn't surprise me but i have a hard time believing some of the designers kanye wears are willing to give him and that kardashian stuff in hopes of free promotion. I thought some of the designers he wears have even turned him away from shows?

Are you kidding?  Kanye wearing your shoes or pants or jacket one night out will get you more exposure than most forms of conventional advertising will.

edit: to elaborate, a single Justin Bieber tweet is estimated to be worth $10 mil in conventional advertising.  Kanye has a bit less than a third of the followers bieber does, but that's still the equivalent of between 2 and 3 million in normal ad dollars... and you can bet those same people are looking at celebrity pictures on twitter, tumblr, People, etc.  If they're just giving him a $500 pair of shoes and not even paying him to wear them, you can bet they're making their money back many times over in sales.

my point is there will always be designers that don't want/need the advertisement. i certainly wouldn't want my brand being tainted by kim kardashian promoting it to her legion of fans, that in itself could ruin the appeal of a brand rather quickly.

and also, the whole thing about celebrities getting paid for tweets, etc is fine, but just because paris hilton gets paid 40k to appear at the grand opening of a guido infested nightclub bringing in tons of money doesn't necessarily mean i'd want her to appear at my minimal techno warehouse party, even if it was for free.

update: on that note, givenchy scarves up on gilt for cheap

What's the costume? I'm probably going to buy an eyebrow pencil, draw on a creepy stache, and be John Waters for halloween. Cheap and easy.

I’m going to New York for the first time next week, will be there from next Saturday (27/10) to the Sunday the week after (4/11).

Clothing wise, I’m looking for trousers made of sturdy black wool in somewhat special cuts (think Yohji/CDG) for a price that I as a student can afford. Second hand is an option but I don’t want to go through thrift shops all day, I would like to know some consignment shops or (a few) thrift shops with a good reputation of having good stufff (if there is any). Is there any special store or designer that most likely will have what I’m looking for?

Also, Uniqlo’s webshop seems to be up now.
