I was at a birthday party for a friend with a bunch of people from my university yesterday. They were all wearing H&M Brooks Brothers and J Crew with thick rimmed glasses. The circles I frequent are generally composed of people who care how they look, but don't give a shit about "fashion". Comments on what I was wearing ranged from homeless to dapper homeless. IIRC I was wearing Rick x3, Silent x2, Dior, Yurman and Doc Martens. And honestly, I kinda prefer it that way, when noone recognizes expensive clothing or gives a shit.
I don't feel compelled to draw people into a conversation about how it costs so much to look so cheap, even when they are being a bit dickish. I just genuinely enjoy the aesthetic, and more than anything no longer following the norms and trends that have permeated my social circle. Sure, its nice when some random guy every 6 months recognizes that a lot of thought was put into an outfit, but for the most part I'm content chuckling at the kids telling me I look like shit and moving on to more interesting subjects of conversations.
In short, fashion in Isolation is still an enjoyable pursuit. I haven't articulated it very well, but I'm sure these sorts of experiences are common for a lot of people out there and on SF. Any super steezy dudes from bumfuck nowhere out there?
