If you can wait until the sales, you can find the Raf derbies for much less. I think I got mine for under 250. I like them because the bulbage is not overly exaggerated, just a nice full round toe. Also very good quality if that matters.

whaaaaaaa

250?????????

when did they go on sale?

Gilt had them for that price. Although I believe there was speculation that the ones Gilt received were specially made (to a lower standard) specifically for them to sell.

It was during the holiday sales. I think either Mr Porter or The Corner or maybe even yoox. They only had one or two sizes, but I lucked out.

this is nice, but i wanted something a little more cdiem. slimmer through the waist and bulbous at the toe with a thin welt

Hmmm, I'm not sure whether any of the Vass lasts fit this profile. Perhaps the banana last? OTOH that might depend on your definition of bulbous - some find the F last to be bulbous in the toe.

If you like a slimmer waist asking for a beveled waist visually slims it up, and opting for a single sole helps too.

my pair on the F last with a beveled waist and a double tapering to single sole: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Parker is selling an awesome pair.

I don't get why people get so excited over those Raf derbies. They're really boring...maybe that's the appeal though.

It comes in more basic colors too. http://www.uniqlo.com/us/CPaGoods/itemcode=073768
(Also, this is the first Uniqlo item I own. Very impressed with the construction quality and the smoothness of the zipper for such an inexpensive item.)

Uniqlo looks good too, but I much prefer the snaps on the CDW to the zipper front. At that price it's hard to argue, though.

i wish they made that uu women's coat with the courdory edge of sleeves in men's too. all they had to do was reverse the buttons

yeah, I know the Rafs are not really that special looking. No gold chain welting! but I think that's why I like them. I wear them with gray flannel or loose black pants so they kinda go with those. But I can see something more like a Marsell or something with a little more design working better with more adventurous clothes. Kinda just depends on the rest of your style and what you'll wear them with.
