Listening to old records from The Fall this weekend led me google Brix Smith, which informed me she owns a London clothing store called Start. That's my random fashion thought.

Similar, but for me it's my coworker and Hugo Boss suits. I think he's been watching too much Barney Stinson and seriously wears a suit everywhere, spouting off lines like "girls are always attracted to suits" and "suits equal respect". Of course, he labels me 'homeless' because I wear a denim jacket. I have a lot of maturing to do

You guys need to reverse the social shaming game

Start calling them "squares" or "cleanshirts" or "organization men"

Ask them how their kids' soccer team is going, even if they don't have kids

And start saying things like "i'm going to a party with my cool friends. you probably wouldn't like it and it's past your bed time anyway"

And if you find yourselves going to a show together, offer them earplugs

etc

My 8 year old son has taken to calling them "agency guys". He calls them out from the back seat of the car...."What's up Agency Guy".

Just make that "whhha-cchhhhh" whip-crack noise any time they imply that girls respect how they dress. Note that you're not doing this because it makes one less of a man to do things a girl wants (that actually makes you a good person!), but because the kind of asshole that wears a suit because "girls respect suits" is always terrified of losing his masculinity and just loves to talk about how he "never lets a girl take his balls" or some degenerate monkey-speak like that.

Also any time a girl makes a terrible menswear-type suggestion (like, "oh a tie would go great with that, men look so good in ties") you just ask them if they'd let a guy dress them and have them imagine how terrible they'd look and that solves that pretty quick.

this reminds of a few nights ago when someone was talking about how nice cole haan shoes are, and asked me if my all saints boots were cole haan.

Actually, in terms of innovation, Cole Haan is probably ahead of All Saints, and the quality of Cole Haan, recently, seems to be decent, and consistent, which is a lot more than I can say for All Saints. Of course, unless your All Saints boots were pebblegrain with a Lunar sole, I have no idea how they would have gotten that idea.

Why would you do this to yourself? I split a Pat's steak with a friend once, and all I got out of it was a mouthful of gristle.

You can also get a decent banh mi or bowl of pho from a few places on Washington Ave. or in Chinatown. I'm partial to Ba Le (I think it's at 6th & Washington) for banh mi.

Random non-food thought: I just got a Gitman Vintage shirt (from the MyHabit sale), and my impressions are:

- short sleeves
- wide shoulders
- boxy fit
- plastic buttons
- stiff, slightly itchy fabric

I'm not really seeing the appeal.
