On another note, I asked Mr. Porter to hold on shipping an item to me for a couple days, then I get an email today saying sorry for the delay, my item will be shipped next day for free. Haha I love these people

Hah, I meant to toss the link in there but I got distracted. I need to do this with a V&R blazer of mine next month in Seattle (nobody around here in Montana can do this apparently heh), and I'll report back. I've had some V&R Gibo-made blazers done up through the shoulder, but it seems the Staff made ones don't have enough fabric allowance in the sleeve do this. Oh well

I mentioned it last week, but this area is just barren in terms of competent tailors, so anything more than a basic alteration is a pipe dream.

shah, anyone in your neck of the woods you'd recommend?

I'll bring up the idea of a "cut job" to Gary, maybe he'll be familiar with it—and maybe it will work out.

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the insight!

that was good.

also good is the Vice "do's & don'ts", because they make absolutely no sense. It all looks like "don't do" to me, with free association captions.

^^I have the 2 Dos and Don'ts books, they are hysterical. The author himself (Gavin McInnes) basically said there's sometimes no difference between a do and don't, it's whatever works better. He also said fashion is boring and only stupid people genuinely care about it. lol8[1].gif

Porter now carrying w mountaineering.

Unbelievable the sheer size of their stock yet there's probably five things I'd cop (and half of that is basic shit), horrendous ratio.

Never heard of the "cut job" but that's a pretty cool solution to the problem, if the jacket design calls for it. normally a tailor would take up the sleeves at the shoulder, but that doens't always go so well, esp if the sleeve-shoulder join is something unique.

for whatever it's worth, I prefer a bit longer sleeve than the typical MC rule where you show a bit of shirt cuff doing the robot pose. I prefer my sleeves longer so that the shirt cuff only shows when I'm holding a lo-ball full of whiskey with elbow bent.

If you buy something within the same country with sales tax then return, you get the sales tax back right?

Also why the fuck is yoox charging me tax all of a sudden.

lol... isn't this what they do with almost every brand they carry? "Hey, lets by a bunch of stuff from XYZ brand and make sure it's all A) Ugly B) the same thing (chinos, etc) we bought from every other brand."

Also, if anyone knows - Does it work to leave a signed note for USPS telling them to leave a package that is signature required? I just moved and the buzzer for my new building doesn't work... so even though I'll probably be around for the delivery they won't be able to buzz me to come down and sign for it. I really don't want to end up having to go to my god awful local post office to pick it up and there's no worry that anyone in my building would take the package.

I've had it go both ways - one time they left it no problem, the other time they didn't. I don't think they're supposed to, so it probably depends on the guy delivering and how "risky" he wants to be.
