I have found some nice stuff at Zara. Their minimalist coats are often really good for the money, although I don't think they would work for severe winter weather.. I will probably buy one again this winter.

Don't tell the guys on MC but I'm thinking about Comme de Garcon white shirt (patchwork white material) and a washed wool plaid suit and maybe even a black or midnight suit (Dres or Commes) . I would mix it up with jeans, and black oxfords just like we did with Prada in the 90's in Soho and London. I feel I need something a little more downtown and fashion forward for when I hang out with artists and designers.

Do you think there is an age limit on these? I'm probably 2x your age smile.gif

I don't want to look like I'm trying to be young. But I do like to be a part of contemporary fashion and style. What do you think?

I think it sounds awesome. Also, around here we think of Dries and CDG as the grown-ups happy.gif

Absolutely no issues there, I think. Somewhere around here there is a "stylish old guys" thread (probably much older than you are), and there is also the Yohji Yamamoto thread.

You can pull it off, PSG. smile.gif For me it's nice to have a little variety in the wardrobe.. a mix of classics and designer stuff. Wearing something more adventurous is just part of personal expression. As long as you feel comfortable and not like you're aping someone else, I think it works just fine. a bit of age may even add some gravitas. :-)

The Bless exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago was really underwhelming.

All of the actual clothes on display: a blazer, a pair of shorts, and a pair of those chain sunglasses.

With a brand like CDG I don't see it dominating just one age group, like Dior or kva. You see anyone from teenagers on the streets of shibuya to older creative types in nyc wearing CDG. The brand has expanded so much that on one end of the spectrum there are chain linked boiled wool jackets and the other very simple button downs. So I guess to answer your question, yeah, I do think going for that 90's look would be pretty cool. I don't know why but I want to see that fit with a cigarette in hand and those glasses chow yun fat wore in a better tomorrow.

Thanks guys for the input. It feels right.

I love retro and classic but I think it is also important to embrace a contemporary aesthetic. I have the basic navy suit, navy jacket, khaki jacket, gray pants, etc.. I think it is time to move on and get these new pieces and perhaps some simple modern shoes. I will have different settings opportunities to wear both looks.

It's a great jacket. Technically a womens (or unisex whatever) but I could care less.
