Even worse than those kipping pullups is their snatching for speed (no sexual innuendo... really). Performing complex Olympic lifts as fast as you can is just asking to fuck up your body.

700

lanvins even seem to be a big hit in the seedy ny cruising spots

What kind of a time frame are we talking about here? Vans are fine; obviously if someone is skating in them that is a different story but for "normal" wear and tear they hold up like any other normal pair of shoes.

But it will still set you back $6400 because Tisci threw some zippers on the sides.

some of the dries van noten noten fw stuff trickling into shops now is gorgeous.
there's a blue chalkstripe suit that i would've bought immediately if i wasn't mid-way through trying to gain 20lbs.

One of the (in retrospect obvious) things I've learned from spending more time in NYC is its really not a macro fashion mecca at all.

Outside of a few small geographic areas and a surprisingly small group of people the fashion is almost the same as in Baltimore. A little pricier sure, but just as ill fitting and drab.

Pretty sure gats are leather lined?

Nope, only the back of the heel is lined in leather, not much else.

Wait, hold up, leather lining can tear?

I've never handled GATs before, so now I'm curious about this tear-able leather

Que a half dozen anecdotes of torn leather, followed by inane 10-page discussion of "quality".

true about NYC. in general I'd say people here are dressed better than in most other U.S. cities, but only slightly. that may just be because people here have more options because of the abundance of retailers, sample sales, etc. but high-end fashion is basically a niche thing.

I don't know how people manage to tear their sneakers, considering some have like 10+ pairs to rotate (not including boots) and also designated beaters.
