is your form good, with your body like a dead weight, or are you swinging your body like crazy so the momentum is sending you up? i see lots of guys throwing themselves around feeling all good that they're doing a lot of reps but they're not doing the work.

Good thing or bad thing?

Also Kipping pull ups just work different muscles. It would be like saying a squat is worse than a leg press cuz a leg press works only your legs

Is it somehow related to this (pre-edit) ?

Haha. No. That was about a minor bathroom incident. Very silly.

It's definitely a good thing. Just a bit scary.

The kipping pullups (didn't know they were called that) are fine as long as you're working hard. I do them sometimes. But they're also an easy way to say you can do a lot of pullups. If you're doing 30 deadhang pullups, that's impressive. If you're doing 30 kipping pullups, it's still really good, but not AS impressive.

well that's pretty clear. i'd say like each kipping pull up is like half a dead hang. so if you do twice as much you also work a lot of other things like hip flexors. imo it's like belts and wraps. numerically it might be more impressive but numbers isn't what you're really after (more like the strength underlying the numbers)

dont you find the smile on the front distracting? everyone seems to love jack purcells but i dont even notice the profile or anything because of the silly smile on the front. kind of like new mazda front fascias. ugh.

i love white high top chucks, but i hate JP's, i just think that bit on the end is funny looking.

Though they style it well here, I think there are sneakers that justify the higher price tag. I personally don't like normal converse much but am really fond of (mainly the sole of) the Ann D copies. The problem is that the diversity of "baller" sneakers reflect the diversity of cheaper sneakers (i.e.: there's a wide range - most of which are offensively ugly).

Manton is really an authority on classic tailored clothes. A good writer as well. His book, The Suit, is highly entertaining.
