Reading Lolita next

Never, ever has a book made me laugh as hard as Lolita did. It's one of my favorites, hope you enjoy it.

Shame is a brilliant film.

something about feeling the characters pain because hes an addict (in shame)

his addictions don't affect anyone but himself. i wouldn't necessarily call what he goes through an addiction, rather he has chosen a lifestyle as a way to cope with his troubled past. just watch it!

That's what fascinated me about Shame, actually

That they take something like male promiscuity, which so many films celebrate, and tip it just enough over the edge that it becomes disconcerting

Stuff like the very first bar scene, for example, wouldn't feel out of place if they stuck it in a romantic comedy. But it's the rest of the movie that throws shadows over that scene-- he's getting the girl, but the sex is joyless

Much more sophisticated take on sex addiction than, say, the film adaptation of chuck palahniuk's choke, where they felt the need to convince you every three minutes that "hey guys! our protagonist is addicted to sex! see? see?"

I also support bros getting into dubstep because it furthers the likelihood of mainstream exploration of electronic music.

not sure if serious.

The problem is there is no critical thinking, only reblogging.

But i guess that's a world problem.

Went fishing today. Caught a lot of stripers, which was super awesome! I caught a couple small ones last year on a fly rod, and caught about 8 today on sandworms, in the 5-pound range. Really exciting, so different from fishing for finicky little trout.

Also caught...

real talk time. i will preface this with i like you. but your statement is so ridiculous. you aren't suddenly the aesthetic arbiter of good taste -- it seems like almost all of your style progressions have come at the urging of this forum. you started cuffing your jeans and wearing slimmer pants because of people here telling you. you started wearing non-ugly, blocky dress shoes because many people (including myself) pointed out that wearing huge gunboat shoes when you have a very narrow frame and wear slim pants makes you look ridiculous. and you hopped on the MMM bandwagon because it's a look that's en vogue on SF right now. and none of this would be a problem if you didn't suddenly cop a persona as if you're too cool for school; i mean, you might not wear a mustard shirt under a suit, but you've done things just as bad.

you are right in the sense that your style is less affected than the typical #menswear look, but your photoshopped and posed posts (which, hell, i like) show as much thought and effort as anything you'd find on a #menswear tumblr, or the photoshoot you're mocking.

and dude, as someone who gets jcrew catalogues in the mail, i think you'd probably fit right in. and that's not a bad thing. just... glass houses and all that.
