Also- is cloud atlas worth going through? I'm reading black swan green now, I really like it. Just finished two Ishiguro books and I have some Borges, Murakami, and Bolano left, anything else you guys think I should pick up?

Jesus read The Devil Wears Prada or something just to break it up that Bolano shit gets heavy

I have some Bill Bryson and David Foster Wallace to go through too. It seems all the fiction I read is heavy and non-fiction is a lot lighter. I actually can't even think of any fun fiction books I've read lately...

Definitely read Cloud Atlas, I liked it much better than Black Swan Green

All of my fiction reading the last couple of weeks has been devoted to the slow realization that I don't enjoy any of Nick Hornby's other books nearly as much as High Fidelity.

Oh holy jeebus christ I'm sorry. Here:

Susan Sontag's journals (never meant for publication) are an extremely candid peek into the young author's sexual, emotional, intellectual awakening. Very edifying, even if you're not familiar with her work. Likewise Gide's journals, likewise Sylvia Plath's journals, and -- for maybe the genre's first postmodernist entry? -- Malraux's Anti-Memoirs are a lot of fun.

Ted Hughes' Gaudette is something a critic might call * a pure genre-bending delight! * It's a screenplay written in verse. Highly recommended, as are Crow, and his translations of Ovid.

Anatomy of Melancholy, by Robert Burton, and Book of Disquiet, by Fernando Pessoa, are both in danger of becoming your new Bible, should you pick them up. You can read them in any fashion, in any order you like, without penalty.

More fun than Proust or Kafka are those who influenced Proust and Kafka: pick up some Nerval (Proust) and Robert Walser (Kafka). Your body will thank you.

Great bathroom reading: Thomas Bernhard's Voice Imitator and Gunter Grass's My Century: amazing collages told in one to three-page bits.

Ferlinghetti's Her is an admirable American take on the French New Novel.

I'll stop myself there frown.gif

Their shipping is ridiculous. I ordered on the 3rd. 5 days later they said they had shipped it. I received it yesterday (17th) but according to the package it actually was shipped on the 13th. The tracking has no information whatsoever

I paid $30 to have priority shipping (next day) which was wednesday and I got them tuesday the next week. I know the post office is closed weekends, and my location somehow doesn't allow parcels from canadapost to be dropped off at my residence. I have to go in the next day after 1 PM to sign for my parcel. Mind you this is Ssense, not Au Revoir.

Funny, i read about 2/3 of cloud atlas, and then sort of gave up. I think it was the pesudo-hillbilly future speak which got to me.
