Picked up a pair of made in usa vintage levis 501's off ebay because they looked really good in pictures and the sizing was #rare (33x38). The actual measurements are really 32x34.5 which is nearly perfect, and for $30 I figured it would be worth the gamble. I'm actually pretty happy with them. They have nice realistic fades and with a small amount of taper they will fit perfect. For what it's worth, if you guys are looking for nice worn denim for this summer definitely look into vintage Levi's. Most the retailers offer them for under $40 depending on the vintage year and the quality of the fades and sizing. I'm a little worried that they will be too dad jean, but with a small tailor job I can get them looking pretty modern. Hopefully I'm not blowing the spot and increasing the incredibly reasonable prices on the made in usa levis, but its worth knowing.
The jeans I picked up:
are you going to taper below or above the knee. Thinking of doing the same
Normally I'd just taper below the knee with 501's, but these seem to be a little bit roomier in the thigh than most levis so I might take it in almost all the way up to the seat. If I do feel like it's necessary to take it up that far, it might be beneficial to just hit up a tailor as I don't have a serger right now and wouldn't like the extra fabric. I'll let you know what I end up doing and will try to snap some pics with how it turns out.
