you're probably right, but i just feel a level of subconsciousness that I can't get over. I live in a city where wearing sweatpants and a tap out t-shirt while driving a 80k truck is considered the norm. People have different values here.

Go big or go home. And it's not being thrown at her, it's a gift! Plus, I think she'll look good in it and be comfortable in it, which has to count for something, right? I mean, she'll also tell me it's stupid, but I'm sure she'll come around happy.gif

I've been trying to devote less time to fashunz lately (and internet altogether) and moreso to other things. Finding myself wearing nothing but my julius leather, tee, ann d pants, and lace-ups all month. My uniform now of sorts...
I imagine the amount of thought I put into my daily fits will diminish as the weather warms up. shog[1].gif

And we've only had three...three!..fit comparisons! Those three comparisons have already generated more cross-subforum commentary in years.
Tomorrow might be a different story. I anticipate a lot of hand-wringing from both faux-forum-partisan groups in the comparison that I have lined up...but my instincts about this are not finely honed.
I think when you refer to "different, and valid, styles," your granularity for "MC" might be a lot coarser than for "SW&D." What you lump together in one, you have a nuanced feel for the other.
Just think about how so many of the Internet Generation 1 bespoke customers were at each others throats before banning and disinterest took their toll on their presence on SF. I mean, how many SW&D guys sue each other because they can't stand how the other guy looks?
That takes real hate.

It's the type of comments, rather than the number. I do appreciate your point, but I disagree with it.

Re. granularity. While I spend more time over here, for personal and historical reasons (I was one of the two founders of this subforum, which spun off of a fairly silly post I made, years ago,) I actually spend a considerably amount of time over in MC, and I think that I have a reasonably nuanced feel for the different actors. I also probably spend more time irl with MC members than with SW&D members. I'm nearly certain that I've had more experience with tailored clothing and bespoke than most posters in MC.

In the end, I appreciate people with a certain degree of broadmindedness. There are definitely prominent MC guys who pretend to no knowledge or interest or clothing outside of a very narrow spectrum. That I also respect. However, I find that there are a lot of young curmudgeons whose comments read like the "If it's not Scottish, it's crap." SNL skit. I see less of that in SW&D, though it exists as well.

There is a certain "pressure" to dress your age, sometimes more so depending on where you live. In the end, it shouldn't matter, but that's not the world we live in frown.gif

peer pressure? fuq dat. i wear wut i want.

yeah they do. i suggest getting a size smaller than your gat. i did 41 and it was too big for me (even though 41 gat is snug).

Men's fashion isn't fleeting enough to bring about instant ridiculousness the moment you become eligible for presidency. Wares from a number of avant garde designers can be assembled into sober, minimal ensembles that would work on anyone between the ages of 20 and 200. So yes, you're correct that the opportunities for experimentation aren't as plentiful (refer to Mr. Balloon Pants in the linked thread for a nice example of experimentation gone awry). But there's no reason to give up the good fight. Age just requires some adjustments.

"Can be assembled"? Sure. I have my doubts about how much it actually happens. It's great that examples can be identified, and it's great to think that one will be among them when the time comes. Please forgive me if I have my doubts.

All this discussion of runway models reminded me that I met this du this weekend. Super nice dude, hardcore australian bush accent. He closed the LV show, along with walking CKC and a bunch of others
