Saw a fantastically hipstered-out yet still moderately SF-approved guy when I was walking home this morning: flat cap, thick-rimmed black glasses, down vest, crispy-fresh double-cuffed selvage jeans (couldn't tell what brand), all finished off with a pair of black & white New Balances.
Also, consignment stores are seriously awesome. Made more than I expected off a bunch of old pairs of gauche, pre-distressed jeans with embroidered back pockets and a few pairs of terrible and/or ill-fitting shoes and boots. I'm sure I would've made more on ebay, but I'll take a lower margin for basically zero effort vs. the headaches and hassles that would undoubtedly ensue trying to auction everything off.
1. Is there any stockist (online or otherwise) who still has these, on sale or full retail?
2. Is there anyone out that wants to sell me a pair in 42/43?
3. What's the sizing like on these? Size down one?
4. Anyone have any opinions of quality/comfort on them?
For the Seattle folks - there is a small popup shop that just opened up about a block south of Blackbird called Trouvaille which is selling off a big lot of clothes from some photographer who does shoots for the local stores in town (Marios, etc). Most of it is Tommy Bahama sort of junk, but there are some nice gems from Commes des Garcon and a couple of other designers that are priced very low - also spotted a pair of suede Crockett & Jones boots for RL in a size 10 for $90. Cash only.
The MC version of the "daily fits companson thread" is starting to hurt my brain. Is it so hard to comprehend that an outfit is not just a bunch of disparate elements thrown together, that you cannot judge the outfit without looking at the whole (including the person wearing it), and that personal likes and dislikes can and should be set aside when evaluating things?
Of course, there are wierd things on the SWD equivalent thread as well, so...
