Random fashion thoughts - Page 3654

I'll concede that it does not belong here in this forum that is catered particularly to "fashion"

Along with any Nike et al outside of their usual context i.e. gym talk and lounging.

To think it will elevate "outfits of the day" is all relative. I don't necessarily agree that it adds into an outfit but I definitely see how it gives a certain look the subtle break and edge that is not expected by viewers. To me that is a type of fashion sense for the wearer to experiment and adventure into on his or her own terms.

And I am not talking about #menswear or whatever the direction that role playing is heading. Sometime it works, sometime it does not, and it I can understand the nerve it strikes among individuals to see how fast forward it is moving being pushed by different spheres thoughts.

My point is that wearing a jacket is socially acceptable when you're trying to look respectable. I just like to look respectable more often than not. It had worked well for me so far.
It all comes down to what you're trying to achieve. I like to be perceived as a social, well-off, young guy with a sense of style. Fitting well both into a younger and an older crowd. I like good restaurants, operas and beautiful women in elegant dresses. For me, dressing the way I do makes me fit into that world I want to be in. It seems to me that most people want to live in some version of that world, otherwise all of the things I described would not be the majority of businesses and advertisements, as well as high-class societies around the world. YMMV.

Is this clown always like that? Based on his series of posts, he sounds like a dorky Patrick Bateman sans the homicidal tendencies. He frequently mentions his eclectic social calendar, but in the end, he seems like a guy trying to fill the void of a real personality with a hodge podge of activities (going to salsa clubs, fancy restaurants, organ concerts) intended to make others perceive him as an interesting person.

edit: also, CDHagg posts remain worse than ass cancer.

Yeah, that post came off as pretty depressing. "I dress the way I do because I want to fit in in an unattainable and idealized lifestyle so that I am perceived as an achieving person."

I've got some friends who have embraced this whole "do classy things and take pictures to show off later when telling everyone about those classy activities" pattern of behavior. I guess it's cool in a way that they're choosing wine and the symphony over Natty Light and American Idol, but it all rings as hollow because they sometimes seem more interested in telling people about it to drive home the point that they're doing "grown up" things.

SVB's comment in that thread about people who use words like "classy" and "fancy" aren't is spot on.

From the point he states that he seems to have a goal to fit in to a type of world he´s not actually part of, that´s when his post just makes me sad.
