Bless is good but I think that apart from the hoodcoat/jacket and maybe some of the crazier accessories, most people wouldn't be able to identify the rest. Some of the stuff is brilliant (the patterncutting of the hood on the hoodcoat/jacket is great, and then some stuff is... well yeah. There's a big Bless army though so I'm sure that everyone has to get paid something, and so the prices are a little higher than you'd really want to spend on like, a jersey knit poncho hoody ($350), etc....

Other end of the steez spectrum: dizzhizz and I were at Uniqlo Myongdong today and I spotted a guy wearing a Saddleback bag; the same one aeglus and stvwrd have, so the third one I've seen in less than a month, in Korea. I immediately thought 'styleforum' but dizz and I were kind of embarrassed to ask about the SF connection but it turned out he had 2 Saddleback bags on at once, and the rest of his outfit was more backpacker than styleforummer, so we weren't sure in the end.

TOJ-related: making clothes is fucking hard, not really an amateur's game. Probably get that served to me once a week or so at least. I'm probably only surviving the clothes world based on the help I get from others and then my little bank of useless information I've got in my head that is proving useful; my mom taught me how to sew when i was like 6 or 7 and I've paid attention to what I've worn since pretty much, so now it's all coming back and I don't feel like I'm searching around in the pitch black, so good there. It's interesting though... It's a game to always get better at, so I have something to do with myself for awhile...

BTW Saddleback guy - if two Korean dudes, one all Junya'd out and the other in a TOJ black leather jacket, came up to you and asked you about your bag today, that was us.

Yeah the Bless pricetag has always seemed prohibitive to me but damn, sad to hear about the materials being so poor. Also sad thinking about how I wish I was creative enough to come up with the shit they make because then I could just do it myself if they're using materials I could just buy on my own. But, I guess that creativity they have that I don't is where the price comes in. Making Cotton Duck look awesome wearing a tennis ball sash is something to be rewarded at least. EDIT Just went back and looked at the tennis ball sash look and it was less awesome than I remember but the rest of Bless s/s 06 owned really hard so whatev~

Yeah I wasn't just about to pass off the brand entirely, I can't and don't judge when it comes to quality as I'm just an internet fashion nerd and don't live anywhere I can see all this stuff nor can I afford it. I just like seeing the designs & runway shows vv. Post some bless pieces if you own them, every post about interesting clothes is a post not about j crew or jeans.

Bless materials aren't anything special, at all. My hood coat is from the kind of cotton plus wool knit rib that I'd expect to buy at APC in a very run of the mill piece there, the rest of the Bless I've seen/handled/at some point owned was nothing special materials wise either. They print some of their own fabrics so that is cool but I don't go to Bless for nice fabrics and I don't think anyone else does either, they go there for the reconstructed stuff and sometimes the more dramatically interesting clothes. Bless is really only widely popular in Japan anyway, and honestly the Japanese just like the baggy shorts and the Aran boots, and funky accessories.

I need to stop buying so much stuff all at once. Now that I got all my cold weather stuff and basic formal stuff (not that that gets much use) , I'll be buying very little. Just saving up for a few grail items (blue Paul Smith lace ups, moto leather etc.) Usually when I buy three or more things at once I regret at least one.

The one on his back was the same as yours, albeit nearly brand new or really well taken care of if it wasn't; the other was just some sort of small passport holder looking neck sling or something or the other.

I spotted him looking through the rubble of Myongdong's +J section, so that and the Saddleback was screaming 'styleforum!!!!' but he was wearing plaid shorts and some non SF shoes and socks.

Just made myself an indigo railroad stripe chambray bandana. Tomorrow night, I'll make a regular indigo bandana, then it's on to a denim and canvas backpack!

Fairly random thought: I really dislike longwings. I don't know why. I like a lot of wingtips, but longwings just don't look right to me.
