I've got a few DBSS graphic tees that I wear occasionally. I don't have a problem with them if they're tastefully done.

I guessed in a range how old you are and even on the high end of said range that's pretty cheap.

People over here offer dumbass career Honda Civic boosters so much more.

I've offered people offers for items that I believed were over priced, but I've also bought plenty of items at the asking price if they were decent deals.

The problem with internet selling impersonality is that it increases the tendency to see people as mouthpieces with positions.

Razele is a screen name, his position is that he wants 250 USD for his Raf knit. My position is that I want to get it for 150. Ultimately I will abandon that position for 200, which is what I am really willing to pay.
Realistically, Razele is a dude in Australia who wants a new MMM leather (let's say) and needs to raise funds for it and it costs 800 on yoox. The problem is still distributive, because it's still 50 dollars for one person means 50 dollars the other person doesn't have. But maybe I know someone selling the leather he wants for 600, or maybe I have 250 in Yoox credit I've been trying to get rid of. Probably not, but you can at least appreciate where he's coming from and it's not just "I want 250, you want to pay 150" which feels insulting.

Another example - I am selling lanvins in my sig (plug!) not because I don't like them - they're awesome - but because they don't quite fit, and someone else is selling them in my size. The fact that I will not accept a lowball is a position, which to other people just looks like a PM saying "No, 250 is not acceptable". In reality, I couldn't care less what I get for them so long as the guy selling them in my size is willing to accept it, too. However, he has said that he won't accept less than 300 + shipping. Once you understand that it saves a lot of time trying to haggle me down and it isn't just about the numbers.

I have tried to go the other way, as some buyers just don't have the cash right away - ie I'll put something on hold for someone who doesn't have the ability to pay right away, on the understanding that the price stated is the price they'll be paying eventually, maybe in instalments or whatever. You would think that would have no effect, but it has about a 50% follow through vs. back-out ratio, largely because most people feel they've made a commitment and feel bad about backing out of it. Though lately it has been worse... I'm thinking the instalment thing is probably a better call, or an upfront fee of $x to put the item on hold, which will ultimately be included in the purchase price.

The avid garage sale / flea market types are rarely satisfied with the marked price. It's a little different on a specialized forum like this where a good number of people are going to have respect for the seller and his price because they know the approximate value of the item.

But the people who frequent garage sales and flea markets are chronically on the hunt for the best deal, even if it means the seller makes little to no profit. Picture your average SuFu poster trying to get you to sell your $200+ shirts for $75 with free shipping and tracking. Then add three 000's to that...no, no, wait. Wrong formula. Bottom line: these people are even ******* worse than those SuFu posters.

We used to have a big family garage sale each summer when I was in grade school. Some of my cousins were selling a few puzzles. Because they were young (and also, dumb as hell), they priced each puzzle about the same price as it would've been new. Well, lo and behold, some old guy who said he went from sale to sale all year long buying puzzles and then re-selling them shows up at our sale near the end of the day.

He sees the prices on these puzzles and loses his god damn mind. He rants about the cost and what an average puzzle costs at a garage sale, etc. He gets so upset that he can't even compose himself to keep looking and just leaves the sale in absolute disgust. Simple mistake on my cousin's part. But the point is, the avid garage sale and flea market attendees don't just expect a low price, they COMMAND you sell your item for pennies on the dollar.

haggling in B&S bothers me I don't **** with prices. Selling things online sucks, so if I have the money for something I like I'll buy it, no negotiation, but if I don't I move on. Arguing over a couple bucks seems a little rude to me, especially if the item is already like 50% off.

Re: Haggling B&S prices. I've never done it, unless I inquired about a price break if I bought multiple items. Most people are eating a decent chunk of change when they sell something here. While it's not really any of my concern what their loss looks like, I can empathize as someone who's had to take losses on things I sold.

If the price is too high for me, I'll usually just wait it out, hoping for a price drop, and then screaming bloody hell when someone else buys it before that can happen.
