I've always found MMM's more "out-there" pieces -- most of the stuff in this article -- interesting from a technical and artistic perpective but utterly unappealing as actual clothes.

So, I have lots of friends who could care less about what they wear. The rail-thin fellows (5'10--6', 150 ish lbs) both wear 32 and 33 inch waist pants. What's the deal with this? I'm heavier than them and wear a smaller waist. If I got a pair of pants two inches too big, they would be uncomfortable and really really ill fitting. What's the deal with this?

That's generally how they think pants "fit". I wore shoes two sizes too big until about 4 years ago because I thought that was just how it was
