Ok, I don't know that I'd go with 19, but I definitely didn't expect 29. Mid-20s, maybe, tops. I don't think tween was being a dick here at all.

If anything, I'm glad to hear that there are more people pushing 30. It's kind of a bummer when everyone who mentions their age is anywhere from 18 - 25.

no it doesn't. But behaviour is VERY important, i'm not discounting that. after a quick google, i finally find that "The China Study" that you people are talking about. It's a book. It's not a peer-reviewed paper. I can't be bothered actually reading it but from the blurb, there's a whole lot of bullshit describing the one relevant finding: that a good diet with lots of fruit and veggies holds a PROTECTIVE role against cancer. that's a concept that people don't seem to understand. Person A on meat and fats with very few veggies etc, person B a vegan. Person B lives longer, doesn't get cancer etc. That doesn't mean that meat and fats are bad for you, necessariy. The relevant actual peer reviewed papers seem to show that fruits and veggies have some protective role - fibre in particular has been suggested as having a role.

People are too quick to take extremes - how can one complain that a man is smoking 6 feet away at a bustop when vehicles emitting toxic gases are whizzing by? That shit cant be good for you either, yet nobody complains about exhaust fumes. I agree it is anti social to be blowing smoke in peoples faces, but if you maintain a decent 3 - 6 feet distance outdoors, that is surely fine.

Individual parts of society do a great job of brainwashing the weak minded. The respectful few rebel from their unwise and unelevating maxims.

What next? Cigars contribute to global warming?

Me, I just don't like the smell of smoke, and smoke on my clothing. It also irritates my eyes. For purely selfish reasons, I'm glad that smoking is becoming unacceptable in most public places.

I never really smoked. Kills cardio, and I've done sports where cardio is key for the majority of my life.

I asked the guy on who runs the twitter. He says karma...well you know them, has them all.

As a cigar smoker, I cannot stand the stench of cigarettes and I smoke those on occasion. Uncontrol is not being unreasonable, I have many times inhaled cigarette smoke from seemingly nowhere only to realize the guy walking 30ft in front of me has a ciggy in his mouth. I have even smelled cigarette smoke from the car in front of me in 10mph traffic on my morning commute, no joke. Are you guys really saying a bus that is used for public transportation is the same as someone who inhales nicotine for no good reason other than out of habit?

PS. slack i agree with you, i get pms all the time and i've ranted about the very same thing before so i mainly just delete most of them unless they're from homies

yeah I went with 19 here to match the "9" in 29 as a bit of hyperbole from what I really expected was like 20 - MAYBE 21 tops. This was based on the combination that, since i really haven't been poking around here long, all I can recall about slack tide are fits with hoodies, occasionally sweatpants, and always pristine looking sneakers, along with a post where he said he looks down at the people around him and how they dress. to me all that clothing and fake snobbery just gave off a vibe of "i just finished highschool and am beginning to be an individual of my own but I still haven't let go of what I always wore" I was really not trying to be a dick but I wasn't aware that Slack Tide took flack for his clothes in the past and would interpret my comment as a continuation of that. There just seem to be two types of people around here, those that joined a forum because they wanted to look better and those that have had an interest in clothes their whole life. I just saw slack tide as the former and assumed he was young. i'm 23 and i consider myself old as hell fwiw.

And I think uncontrol meant that it's more directly irritating to have someone blowing cigarette smoke in your face (or smoking right next to you in a relatively enclosed bus stop) for the couple of seconds that it lingers there and you inhale it. Smog, air pollution, &c. aren't as acutely and directly noticeable, even if their cumulative health effects are far more significant.

My main dislike with smoking is that nobody does it stylishly these days.
