There's a lot of cussing and foul language on the streetwear forum. I don't know why it's even tolerated. The objectives of newb posters between the two seem obvious enough: to look good for girls vs. to look good for the job.
can somebody please explain to me dries, MMM, KVA, and Patrick Ervell? I think they look cool but don't really "get" what the "idea" behind a lot of them are.

yup that's how i think of mmm.
Ervell, it's kinda sporty, and casual and young. Kinda simplistic, in a boyish fun sort of way. almost the opposite of margiela. I can't imagine an old man wearing ervell (though i'm sure it can be done).
don't know much about the others, but KVA seems to be futuristic from what i've seen
Das Racist/Boy Crisis started at Wesleyan (they, along with MGMT, graduated the year before I got there). Their members were part of the hipster cokehead co-ed frat so they came back to play a lot. (Boy Crisis was pretty good, but Das Racist was unlistenable live. At least, the shitty student "sound collective" couldn't mix them right). But yeah, DR is pretty great until you listen to both Sit Down, Man and Shut Up, Dude, and a bunch of their other material and you kind of start to notice that they like to recycle a lot of their more clever stuff. I'm not sure whether they've got staying power (considering that, as MC's, they're only kind of okay) I personally liked boy crisis a lot more because it was more danceable.
Hipster rap Only a matter of time before a group comes out representing gentrified Bed Stuy "Live from Bedford Stuyvesant, the whitest one... coming to you from the new organic market/ Subarus, I park em..." etc
I've decided I have too much free time on my hands, so if any of you non-US dudes need a proxy for something online, PM me. I make regular trips to the post office for my eBay/Half.com affairs, so it wouldn't be a hassle. //shill
