Random fashion thoughts - Page 19

random fashion thought:

Have you ever seen a horizontally striped shirt or a vertically striped polo? I havent.

Yes. I actually owned a vertically-striped polo in the 70s. Keep in mind, it was the 70s! But it was red and white stripes, rather broad. It was hideous but at the time I thought it was most cool.

A question not a thought: What does slub mean?

it's fucking impossible to find anything on the men.style.com website, I have no clue what's new and I have to go balls-deep to find what I'm looking for

Yes. Do you remember that store Structure in the 1990s (which later became Express Men)? That place sold surprisingly high quality basics (polos, khakis, etc.) in the most whacked out designs ever. Vertical stripe polos. Six button polos. Dress shirts divided into 4 color quadrants. It was freaking awesome. Best store ever.

I remember structure, they were better back then.

I have decided to basically stop shopping. I feel like I have everything I really need. I'm just going to wear what I have to death now. The only thing I am looking forward to is the Jil Sander Uniqlo line. If the shirts fit well, I might buy a few. Otherwise I think I am pretty much set.

I still have a shirt or two from Structure. One of them is a favorite shirt, the other may be donated shortly as I haven't worn it in about 4 years.

Click on details at top to go to the details page and they should have the articles there.

Haha my cousin worked there from high school into junior college. His whole wardrobe was structure and mine was banana republic and I kept telling him why don't you buy something else and he'd always respond with dude I get it for cheap. I used to have a pair of structure linen pants and a matching shirt, absolutely horrid.

Slub is an imperfection in the material, either from the yarn or, IIRC, the actual weave of a fabric. In the weave, it's usually made from where the string is "missed". Ever see the movie Wanted? That whole Loom of Fate crap? They were reading the slubs. :/
post #283 of 99824
So I've seen slub applied to various clothing items, particularly in the J. Crew line. They're talking about the fabric weave?
It's a bobbly texture too.

No great stores. From time to time I managed to find some stuff @ the Nordstrom's Rack+ Club Monaco+UCB

The rest is douchy shit, just lots of it.

And yes, UCB's stuff is not made in Italy. In China. Would cop only @ 70% off
