Random fashion thoughts

I can't get on the love train regarding these Lanvin sneakers, especially the Studio 54 inspired metallic ones; I can't help but associate them with Creative Recreation. They may work on the catwalk as many of the Lanvin fabrics relate but when I see them flying solo with a regular pair of jeans my head screams "douchy"

I have similar feeling for the Rick moon boots, unless you have 12 toes I'm not down.

There's always something inspiring out there but I feel like I've had my fill with supple black leather, raw denims, Pima tee's, military, preppy, plaid, vintage, crispy Lanvin steez etc

I got so much heat it's ridiculous but I have been wearing the same thing for the past two months when I'm not at work. I don't look at clothes anymore (previous level) but have been really into interior design and furniture for awhile now instead. Jeans, motos, varsities and other mass type ish here have done this to me.

i wear a uniform at this point which makes life easy. only buy H&M and AA for the gym and RO for everything else. makes shopping or not shopping easy.

i feel like a fraud if i mix and match wildly divergent designers or wear all one designer one day and another the next. raf sucking donkey cock these days made it easy to get off his train.

I've been a moocher, a kindergarten teacher, and a cubicle monkey at an office where I was put into a ring to fight off some other guy for the management's fun basically, long ago; I learned pretty early that working in an office wasn't for me unless I was gonna call the shots, and I learned I didn't make a very good kindergarten teacher because I am a drunk and waking up at 8 was too much for me, it was time out for every kid in class until I got over my hangovers.

Clothing construction, I learned from my mother, who is a hobby sewer since she learned it from her grandmother, and I just kind of have an engineering mind and a photographic memory so I picked up a lot. She would always say this and that were too hard to make, but I am not deterred from challenges, I am pretty good at macgyver'ing ****. I went to art school awhile back and pissed everyone off because I was lazy and fucked up in the daylight hours and then I'd work overnight and make some sort of engineered thing when everyone else would stick to the studio hours and paint a typical study.

My grandmother though, she is a real shopper and she always made it a habit of taking all of the grandchildren shopping around July or August and fitting us out for new school clothes every year; she'd tell us what we needed and what to buy and we'd all be set, and everyone liked my clothes when I was growing up. I had cool sneakers and **** when I was in elementary school and I remember this PRL rugby shirt she bought me in middle school that really reached out to me, because it was so soft and the pattern was nice, it was the first time I paid attention to clothing for the appreciation of what went into it, how it looked, etc. I went to public schools too, with a lot of black kids, and so classical '90s streetwear along with grunge-y white people's clothing were big at the time, so that was a huge influence too. It was part street pricetag/newest sneakers-effect X drifty/swaggery depleted grunge that made an impression on me. I actually ended up dressing really trad+old guard Italian luxury towards the last part of high school but all of these things formed my tastes in clothing.

Same deal here. My friends a real estate freak so he's helping me out regarding finding a good house this year (SoCal prices are going to take a further big **** so this is the year for bargain shopping). I just bought a 67' Chevy C-10 350 step side truck which will also steal from my clothing fund, but it's cool. When I'm at the flea market I'm spending way more time looking and buying furniture. It must be an age thing.

so the other day, one of my roommates noticed i'd bought some new navy sperry topsiders, and he said they look business casual.

a few days before that, before bed I was trying on some of my old summer shirts from last year to make sure they still fit, and he saw me in a crumpled short sleeve linen shirt and asked why i was wearing a dress shirt before i went to bed.


are all university students like this, or am i just in a style black hole in northern california?

all uni students are like this, but they tend to notice more if you change up your style.

i.e. if you'd always worn nice clothes they probably wouldn't have noticed at all.

Pretty much all like that. My roommates and friends have gotten used to me though.

IMHO if you're not interested in other aspects of designs and aesthetics its sorta weird to be intensely into clothing and the end results (your style) ends up being so-so.

I think we're just too old for this bs. The only problem with furniture is the addiction is a lot more expensive. Pieces I want are ludicrous like 11k sofa, 10k credenza, 4k lounge chairs, etc.

I thankfully have most of my furniture in place. However I was looking for a new desk and pricing can be prohibitive.

fuuma- muji has a nice eames type desk that is very reasonable if that's your aesthetic, legs must be purchased separately but it is all made in japan I think for under 500. You can get a classic breuer style chair (not in bamboo but more modern materials) to go with it that would be quite nice but again depends on your taste. This is rather simple though mind you.
