Most mainstream rappers -- be it 50 Cent, B.o.B., or Wiz Khalifa -- are better on their mixtapes anyway I.E. earlier work. I pretty much gave up on Weezy until No Ceilings came out last year which showed he could still beast. But fuck it. I'm just upset I've no tickets to watch Phoenix tonight.

I think mixtapes ruined mainstream rap. Most artists will go for volume instead of releasing less but at a higher quality. The albums are always getting delayed and I refuse to believe releasing a mixtape every few months doesn't impact that.

So everyone realizes that the Junya camo hoodie looks like something Bape woulda made a year or two ago, right? I mean be into whatever you're into, but let's call a spade a spade.

As if this ever changed. 9/10 Eminem songs are just cries for attention, can't take anyone who thinks Eminem is one of the best rappers of any nor all time seriously. Current rap is all about the beat anyway. No one gives a fuck what they're saying so long as the beat gets girls to shake their asses. I don't really have a problem with this, it's easy to listen to when I tune out anyway

no shit wiz isn't rhyming like hov or old em or anything... fuckin nobody does. thats stupid. nobody's ever gonna make another album as good as ready to die, we know, but that doesn't mean these dudes aren't decent lyricists. the thing is there's different kinds of hiphop. when i'm just chillin in my dorm and i feel like writing ill throw on some old outkast (aquemini/southerplayalistic era) or maybe a little eyedea (rip) or some of the tribe or whatever the fuck im feelin. but wiz has some clean cuts, the kid frankie still blazin gettin up those are all dope songs. as far as im concerned the dopest track ever as of now is Aquemini and that came out a long ass time ago... doesn't discredit shit now though and obviously music can be better or worse in quality but when you have a good, high quality sample of one rapper and a good high quality sample of another at the end its about whos flow youre diggin. and you might not dig everyones.

I hear you. Ultimately it's all personal preference. But for me personally, none of these new guys are doing it at the level of the old dudes I listen to regularly. It's like, if nobody's making Ready To Die level music, and that's what I'm accustomed to/accept as listenable, then there's no point in checking the new shit....

Could all of your take your shitty music talk to the shitty music subforum? I'd rather talk about how much I bench than hear about underground chilean miner thrash metal, but since that's been taken away from me I want to take this from you too.
