Atelier is also on SZ (affiliate thread and occasional posting). I guess they started wanting more web presence, which sorta surprises me.

Probably because competing stores are going to start eating their lunch if they don't.

They've known the forum ever since it started and occasionally checked it out, they were merely reluctant to have a web presence. They thought many times about closing their own website. I guess they decided to embrace it a little.

Hats worn purely for fashion always fail.

Examples:
Straw hat worn by a peasant in the fields = OK
Straw hat (probably a fedora) worn by twenty-something to a bar = LOOKS STUPID
Trucker hat worn while driving a truck = OK
Trucker hat worn to a bar = LOOKS STUPID
Winter hat worn because it's cold = OK
Winter hat worn to a nightclub = LOOKS STUPID

There's got to be some utility involved, otherwise it never works.

How in the F*** is anything from Gilt's Libertine sale sold out? Sheesh.

Also, what the f*** is with all of the frilling and poofy shite I am seeing on woman's clothing lately. I noticed this while at the mall this past weekend with the GF and then I look at the new J.Crew catologue and almost every woman's page has something frilly being modeled. The fuck.

Dress hats have always had some aspect of ornament. For example, the top hat. Showy cowboy hats--even though they evolved from utilitarian purposes--were worn purely for ornament.

I try not to blindly shun every single store because of its connection with the mall, but fuck mall stores for not stocking any slim-fitting chinos. My best friend is getting married Saturday and I wanted to pick up a new pair of chinos for the rehearsal dinner on Friday. I stupidly wait until today to go looking for said pair of chinos, just assuming I'd get them at J. Crew.

The only pairs that didn't have baggy legs were limited in sizes, so I left empty handed. I scoured several other possible stores that might have something that could work, but it was one rack of relaxed or straight chinos/khakis after another.

Big motherfuckin' werd to all this. The worst thing about the frilly shit is women who consider themselves "fashionable" like that. I'm pretty sure women that have proper style wouldn't touch that. And Libertine just make me rage.

It's funny how having a personal life has made me sort of forget about fashion.
