hat + socks look ******* dorky in all the wrong ways. if you are pegging your jeans up its because it's hot, not because you fetishize school boys from germany circa 1935

Understandable.

Function vs. Fashion aside, I think the underrated quality of the outfit is the versatility of it. Going by the books and doing every outfit the "right" way sort of leads to a bland, contrived, and boring outfit/mindset. The best looks I've seen are the ones that have something uncommon/off about them that, despite being "wrong" still ends up looking good somehow. I find that a true testament to style.

Yeah, I can see that the jeans are rolled up too high. But they can just as easily be toned down, as in instead of rolling the jeans up that high maybe just a little bit, and showing a peak of the sock underneath (color can be whatever you want). The hat, well, to be honest I didn't notice the hat at first and I am not a hat guy in anyway whatsoever. The hat, whether it's there or not, is irrelevant to me.

I just find myself attracted to the concepts of the outfit and that you can tweak and personalize small details to suit them to your own tastes (like you mentioned, the socks and hot which can be removed/replaced).

the guy has a little bit of moose knuckle going on. and by moose knuckle I mean that awkward inward bend in his knees. slightly baggier trousers would hide this.

edit: or maybe its like flamingo legs?

Or sagging his pants a little lower. It's a bit of a gray area but I more or less have experience with this same fit issue, except he's taller and his legs are longer

uh there is actually almost nothing versatile about that outfit. I think you are confusing quirkiness with versatility

raw denim is good for two things

1.) FADEZZZZZ
2) getting the most perfect fitting jeans possible due to stretching (this may be more a property of the selvedge than the fact it's raw, however)

I got some Bullhead Jeans from Pacific Sunwear (a teeny-bopper mall store for those of you who don't know) and they actually fit damn nice for $25. Theyre 100% cotton too. nothing wrong with lesser denim as long as the fit is good.

but quality raw denim is typically just constructed better.

to analogize:
there's nothing wrong with gettin some endo from your local college dealer at a reduced price. it'll still get ya high.
but there is nothing like gettin a good sativa from the club; it'll get ya really high. And in the long run, it'll last longer because you'll need less to accomplish the same thing.

Eh perhaps versatility is the wrong word. Either way, my point is you can tone down/replace the small details of the outfit to fit your preference and it will still work overall.

The cost of washed denim with good looking fading is almost more than raw denim itself, so I stick with raw.
