The quality and feel of my lone H&M button up is so bad I'm embarrased to take it to my tailor.

I saw the Flaming Lips last night and Wayne was wearing a great light gray Thom Browne (or TB style bespoke) suit with very open quarters. Looked great on him.

I'm about as against the backlash of peasant brands as any regular here, but even I don't know how anyone tolerates their button-downs. It's like wearing deli paper.

They fit and don't cost a fortune.

It's not even a matter of expecting fantastic fabric quality. You know for the price, you aren't getting anything outstanding. But the fabric of these shirts are unlike almost anything I've picked up in an Old Navy, A&F, AE, etc. At some point, fit can't be the deciding factor. I'd rather get something that doesn't feel so coarse and throw a few bucks a tailor's way to get that H&M fit.

I say this as someone who visited H&M for the first time last March with high expectations. The aesthetic is great, especially for the price. But the feel of the shirts was a total dealbreaker.

Gap shirts feel even worse to me, for what it's worth. Similar papery feel, but heavier.

I might give shirts from Express a shot; I'm under the impression that they come in a decent cut. But maybe those aren't any better.

I usually wear an undershirt (v-neck, for anyone ready to recoil in horror at the thought of seeing a t-shirt under a buttondown), so the feel of the shirt isn't a huge problem. But yeah, it's certainly something.

Yeah I'm not too into durability quality of clothes but it's like: Japenese Repro and designer stuff>>mall brands>>H&M. The shirt is boxy as hell BTW.

Sonatine - besides being one of the best movies ever - have some pretty great early/mid-90's hawaiian shirt looks. And then Beat, looking awesome in the classic white shirt + navy pants combo.

I finally find a Vivienne Westwood shirt that I like in my size without the stupid logo on the breast pocket and it's sold out. Sigh.

I wish more designers played with dress shirt conventions like she does.

I don't know if Caulfield Prep is a line or just a section in Blue Bee's store, but I know I want to punch it.

If you're poor it's seriously pointless to buy an H&M-quality shirt just for the fit when you can learn to alter something yourself. Step 1) Get a cheap sewing machine Step 2) Learn how to use it to alter the sides of a shirt, its easy and your amateur seam will only be marginally worse than the cruddy construction of an H&M seam but the tradeoff in wearing a nice material that doesn't feel like seran wrap is worth it Step 3) Thrift a shirt that fits your neck and shoulders but is actually nice fabric or find some shirt at 80% off from a fat people shirt clothing company like ralph lauren classic fit. Step 4) Alter that shirt Step 5) Wear it then make sure to point out that you are poor but alter your shirts yourself so that people know you are DIY (this should appeal to you robbie) Step 6) Act kind of uppity about your ability to do that towards other people on a clothing forum who don't do it because altering your own shirts still hasn't gotten you any indie girl tail yet and the next best thing to getting laid is acting better than people you'll never meet... ....

You people complaining about the weather are pussies. Try south Florida, it's ******* 90+ everyday with 100% humidity. Not to mention that there is nothing to do and most people are basically a step away from their deathbed.

^^I used to live in Naples. Wearing anything more than a tee shirt was asking for death.
