I agree that basic workwear is also very accessible, no need for enormous beard and train conductor hat.

Things that my circle of friends (working in fashion or around it) are into right now:

-Other design disciplines, this was always the case but now liking architecture and going to see famous houses/exhibit is very big. Spending on interior deco is also seen as cooler than spending on fashion while having a bare apt and a large closet was seen as punk-rock or some shit a few yrs back. Magazine-style apartment is to be avoided so eclectic taste and cosy furniture is imp. Ages of the people very wildly so this isn't because some are older. Art still popular but that is a constant.

-Wearing sportswear but not in the in-your face way of allover designer sportswear or street-goth. Just wearing a basic Nike sweat with something dressier. Sneakers are def big (sure Stan Smiths) but being a sneakerhead is still ewww. Gosha is ok.

-Fashion but with more moderation in fact: a Rick Owens leather is ok, full look is ewww.

-Fashion from the 80s and 90s found in high-end vintage shops is better than current pieces.

-A real bleu de travail is the must-have menswear piece even though no one cares about typical workwear brands.

-Conservative/well-established luxury brands (i.e. Chanel) better than avant-garde or upstarts.

-Lesbians (don't ask, I have no idea either).

-Clubbing is lame, you go to restaurants and cafés then party at someone's place.

The "toned down" fashion seems to be the thing.  Maybe it's just me and my fashion friends getting old, but that's what I see,  Not sure I've seen trends as specific as you've described.

Clubbing has always been lame.  It is sorta fun when you are in charge, but mainly, it's lame.  I don't even know if "party" is a good word for what goes on after dinner.  More like.. hang out and shoot the shit.

When I lived in NYC I hated clubs so much, even when my friends were throwing the parties and everything was free...

Then I went to Berghain.

AND MY LIFE WAS NEVER THE SAME.

Recommendation for some brown artisanal looking derby at sub $500? I cant think of anyone but Buttero, though they dont offer brown this season.

i've found that a lot of brown guidis get marked down to just under 500 at the end of season usually. brown is a tougher sell

It's all about the weird little basement clubs in London with HUGE soundsystems. Maria in Berlin was fun, but got shut down :(

Kind of disappointed by how over-simplified they make this issue. Like somehow, our need for cheap, fast fashion is forcing children to work in sweatshops. Or that companies can do something about their supply chain management when they're working in countries that barely even have functional governments.

This segment was 17min long. You'd think they could include some of the more complicated issues around economic development, rather than repeat the same tired story of sweatshops that mostly gets used for protectionist agendas.
