Just kopped one of them (and, unrelatedly, a kitchenaid stand mixer).

Cool, thanks. I have been wanting a sous vide thing and have good things about the Anova.

I kinda want a kitchenaid too, which model did you buy? What do you do with it? I used my room mate's a lot a while back when I was baking a lot, but these days I don't bake nearly as much...

I ordered some bomb ass noragi at my sushi spot the other day. Absolutely delicious.

I got the artistan 5 qt. from amazon and it's not here yet. I'm gonna use it to bake random baked goods i guess, and eventually buy the attachments for the meat grinder and sausage stuffer and all sorts of other savory-meal toys (I can make my own pasta without the pasta maker so i'm less worried about doing that). Maybe also an ice cream maker? Who knows. Sky's the limit.

I wanted to learn to bake so i'm kind of baking my way through the momofuku milk bar cookbook (see the random food thoughts thread for what i've been making) and i finally burnt out my hand mixer that was a mediocre stand-in while making bao dough. But with the stand mixer now i can fuck with making croissants (and cronuts!).

Cool, I might take a look at the Momo milk book. I leafed through the original momo book and wasn't too impressed by what I saw (it looked like a nice coffee table book but not something I'd use to cook).

I used to make a shit ton of croissants. Have fun with those-- they were really frustrating to me at first, but I got really good at it

ballers knead their dough by hand

I had a croissant phase (read: 1 weekend) and I don't see how a machine would simplify the process. Kneading the dough almost seems like the easiest part.

Sidenote: Trader Joe's sells very decent croissants in their frozen section. At least as good as any I can find around Houston (not exactly Michelin-standard I'll admit)

Danish 7/11 has some really good croissants and they often on sale for $1 a piece.

They have one with marcipan in it. inlove.gif

Danish 7/11 impressed me as being a good deal nicer than American 7/11

I think a noragi is a cool but hard to wear

(says the guy who's been wearing his epaulet noragi as an apron)

Dudes,

It's voting time over in the Viberg proposal thread. With your help, we can totally get the Echo boot made. You're probably not going to see a boot like this from Viberg again any time soon, so this is the one chance. Don't live with regrets. Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as uncle and nephew.

Vote with your $$ - 20 dollars (refundable if the boot doesn't make it) gets you a vote, and secures you in the annals of history.

There are a bunch of other good options. But none trump the Echo boot, which, in addition to being a looker, can easily make point five past light speed, and will keep your feet comfy on the Kessel run (and can, in a pinch, be used as a forceful mynock removal tool).

(thanks again to @kindofyoung
 for the mock-up)

How much will they be if/when they're made? Link for $20 deposit is here btw: http://www.styleforummarket.com/viberg-1/

looking back on my winter kops I can only lol for thinking I'd actually take the time every day to layer my nice little knits and cardigans and scarves underneath my nice alpaca/cat hair/virgin wool coats when it's -5F outside with 20mph winds and neverending mud/snow/slush/salt on the ground. I'm glad sweatpants are cool cuz that's what I'll be wearing everyday in the spring with the same jacket/bomber and sneakers. Never been a fan of generic streetwear but I'll do anything that lets me go to the gym without having to pack extra clothing and stay comfortable walking around all day.

^I started skipping leg days and going to the gym in geobaskets. Saves a bunch of time and don't have to pack extra shoes.

I am a strong, dominant pack leader and I use the phrase "no no" in casual conversation, just like Rambo and Harry Truman before me.
