mitch alfus. boom.
i had no idea who he was until this morning. hes been importing (to usa) leather for years and has supplied it to old school designers like calvin klein, as well as newer guys like ro, philip lim etc...

really, nothing? dont make me go all shah (mean/grumpy ) on you guys!!

anyways, hes responsible for trends like metallic leather, animal print leather and DISTRESSED leather in fashion.
i wonder if he does the washes/distressing (think that acid wash toad skin ro uses) himself or if rick does that after he sources the leather??

ive yet to have a good experience at the tailors. im afraid to try new ones or to go back. they all suck :(

I'm afraid I have to agree with this. It's almost impossible to get a tailor to actually listen to what I'm telling him/her, and the results are always a total crap shoot.

Obvious Alert: Richard Chai Is The New Creative Director Of Filson

By Connie Wang
Well that makes sense. Rugged, debonair, fashion-man-of-the-manly-men Richard Chai will act as the creative director for much-beloved outdoors brand, Filson. His nine-piece jacket and accessories line will debut on February 9, during his runway show, and will feature striped wool bombers, field jackets, a classic Filson Cruiser, and duffel, utility, and rucksack bags. The 115-year-old brand hasn't had much of a shakeup in quite some time, with their traditional hunting jackets and workwear accessories remaining just that: traditional. But with Chai's high-fashion fabrics, slimmer fits, and special design elements, the Filson look will be updated in a way that's still true to the traditionalists and exciting for the youngins. Filson forever!

The thing I dread most is trying to get them to hem pants on the shorter side. I swear sometimes when I tell them I want it shorter, they just fidget with the fabric without actually making the hem any shorter haha

That sucks, guys. I can't complain about New York. There are some great tailors here, ranging from expensive to super cheap.

My tailor is dope and she is so cheap. Shirt darted? 5$, jeans tapered ? 6$. I had a shirt sleeves shortened, body shortened, darted etc. basically a new shirt, and it was a cool $25. I <3 her

I actually found a great tailor in Portland of all places, he really listened to what I said and when I wasn't entirely happy with the work he did a rush hour job on correcting it for free
