I agree. My wife is trying to teach me yoga (she has practiced for a long time) after a lot of resistance on my part, and although there have been stops here and there, and I have to adjust every pose, it's helping. I gotta say that above a certain level.though, a lot of it is genetic. I know fighters who train the same, eat the same, etc... and some just have more physical longevity than others. I feel that everyone can maintain a minimum level of fitness, but to run ultramarathons at 60+, which I've seen, takes luck as well as dedication.

No, but I am pretty sure that I could still break two ribs with one kick. Power stays longest.

Mobility takes just as much work as strength training, unfortunately, and is going to be inversely proportional to your strength unless you're actively stretching. IMO it's easiest to just do the yoga, but there are plenty of mobility programs out there that you can follow.

I've given up that battle. The thought of it only fills me with weariness. I decided to sell that (second) spot to someone else. I've just fought for so long... the battle has taken its toll.

 

At this point I'm so sick of TOJ I'm not sure I even want the jacket I still have on order.

somebody here recommended the kelly starrett mobility programme, its helped me a lot. couch stretch is the best ever for tight hips

I have a feeling that Drew simply won't refund people what they are owed as these slow trickle of orders come to a close.

Also, is there a way to print an international USPS label without that damn java interface? My work has blocked java making it a massive pain in the ass to ship anything.

Good advice fellas, I appreciate the input. I used to do lots of yoga a couple years ago, but I had to give it up when I chose lifting (too much $$$). I think it would be realistic to keep lifting for another year or so, hit my strength goals, and then transition into yoga once again. KJ, I think you're right: mobility demands a lot of work if it's gonna be done right. I remember how strenuous yoga was when I wasn't even lifting. It would absolutely kick my ass if I tried to pick it up now.

Most importantly, I don't want to half-ass anything. If I'm gonna lift, I have to focus on lifting. I guess I'll wait until I've wrapped up this episode before obsessing about something that requires my full attention.

One last question for Fok: which would you recommend to a newbie, jiu jitsu or Muay Thai? All the MMA/defense stuff is starting to pique my curiosity lately, and I'm wondering how reasonable it would be for me to pick it up within the next five years (I'm 24 now).
