I've noticed that lots of SW&D brands charge farcical prices for very ordinary stuff, based on name recognition.

Those $290 socks are hilarious - they look like they were made from an old t-shirt and stitched together by someone's mother so as to save money.

Not similar but if you wanna talk price vs quality fabrics Leder wins , for me

Yeah, up until recently I didn't know the where Haider existed in the niche <---> price <---> exclusivity <---> whatever graph. And the design does blow the two listed out of the water, which is what has me considering dropping money for the striped wool version of that coat.

I agree 100% about Leder - seeing ho-hum brands like Jil, Raf, Margiela at retail makes brands like Schneider, Lemaire, and Leder (and more niche stuff like Peir Wu and Abasi+Rosborough) seem like positively good deals. I'm just sad that Haider Ackermann is on the wrong end of the price scale, as this current season especially looks fantastic, but I'm priced out of the brand even when it's on sale.

It's priced to be exclusive, which is quite different than being priced based on branding, though I can see how the two can easily be conflated.

One thing that I think is super cool about Yamamoto is that he really doesn't seem to play that game.  Yes, some of the stuff is extremely expensive, but he is not afraid to price his hosiery, for example, at a very reasonably price, essentially the same price and any number of decent sock brands - not cheap, but $35 for socks is not even the level of many, many, mid priced brands.  It's like he is so confident in his brand he doesn't care about having consistent pricing across the range.

So, I generally like Southwest inspired stuff, and I like things like Visvim's moccasin + running shoe hybrids, but these just look dumb.  There is no further explanation needed:

i decided to try grailed. the amount of people asking for the number of washes and wears on a pair of $50 apcs, combined with the amount of people who offer but never pay up, makes that place suck ass

It's good, but it has a lot of drawbacks. Any time I list something there's like 20 people who add it to their fitting room but never ever make any kind of expression of interest even after its dropped to half of its original price. And then there's a lot of people who just forget about their listings and never take them down, so you offer, then 2 weeks later they tell you they already sold it.

I really like how you can filter stuff.  Then save the filter.  Then just load it up every so often and check out goods within a few seconds of getting your phone out.

You're forgetting the shit ton of people that will offer like $100 shipped (including intl shipping) for a $200 item.
Get way more ridiculous lowball offers than here + eBay combined.
