Give and take relationship, IMO. I'll disable Adblock if the advertising doesn't severely negatively impact the experience of using a site. SF doesn't qualify.
That said, display advertising is dying anyway.
Yes and no. Some people, like us, invested heavily in actual native advertising, like the affiliate threads, which required some degree of foresight. These clearly cannot be turned off. Though clicks and views may be immediately fewer than if you blanketed everything, the long-term impact is greater. A lot of ads are much more fully interactive now, and you can't use the service without getting the ads. Pandora is a good example. Hear the ad, or pay for a subscription.
Oh. And the Hanger Project ads will run until Tuesday.
lmao this is like 1/3 of the screen has content, thank god for adblock
they must have paid a pretty penny to disable the website for several days, i remember foks belt collection was much smaller before the huddler takeover
Honestly, as a private citizen, I have no issues with older members who contribute a lot using adblock. That said, would you guys be adverse to a reasonable subscription to have an ad free service for those members? I honestly dunno what a reasonable rate would be. Our quants would work that out. Just looking for something opinions in general. I meet with our revenue partners on Tuesday, so opinions (not rants) are welcome.
