People have been earning it.

@Benesyed Gloves matching sweater is weird only because it's so close and the material is so similar. I'd be more into it if any one of the fabrics (coat, sweater, trou) were something without a fuzzy nap.

^I would switch out either the sweater or the pants (probably the pants) color wise (to black, or something on the green side), I find the gray monochrome a bit weird. Otherwise I like the silhouette (and the break on the pants).

Saw a guy piss in a sheer plastic bag on a train in Copenhagen and then walk of with it, like it was completely normal.

i'll bet he's really handsome, I wanna see a showdown with Regis

A rogue contraband photo of him briefly appeared sometime during the most recent Pitti coverage. It was quickly removed by what I assume is advanced facial recognition software developed for the sole purpose of maintaining Internet anonymity, but during its brief tenure it provided confirmation that Synth can best be described as 'unreasonably handsome'. I hope to confirm this afternoon (sans photographic evidence, since I'm fairly sure the same program will also forcibly install malicious software on your hard drive that removes any facial obfuscation edits every time you post in WAYWT).

THE STYLEFORUM TRUNK SHOW: ALMOST PITTI.

In keeping with the tradition of my travels for Styleforum, I was very happy to have a chance to spend an hour in Minneapolis-St. Paul on my way to New York from Denver, where I got to take in CNN’s latest thrilling coverage of the aerial tram in Portland, Oregon. Did you know that there are a lot of bikers there? Sorry, cyclists. On the plus side, I had time to enjoy my bag of snacks (chopped carrots and celery, thanks - and a bag of fruit snacks).

The only explanation given for our delay was something about “traffic control activity” in Newark, which sounds like a euphemism given to the mating season of a rare and unwieldy animal, of the sort that David Attenborough might peer at from behind a large bush while lying on his stomach. Or maybe like what a teenager might say to his mother after getting caught sneaking out on a school night. The whole thing would have gone over more easily if the destination in question weren’t Newark, but being forced to wait to get there, to the land of construction and misery and disrupted travel plans, seems a cruel joke.

Regardless, I arrived, the red, glowering Budweiser tower heralding my arrival in Newark the same way the Eye of Sauron might welcome you into Mordor, and, after riding a train that smelled alternatively like diarrhea and a fog machine, I found myself in the city.

It was with a seemingly unavoidable 2-3 hours of sleep that I arrived for breakfast at the Breslin with LA_guy, conceptual_forest, @unbelragazzo and Jen, LA_guy’s wife. After glancing at the menu and ordering poached eggs, I was surprised to see curried lentils on the plate that arrived, with great disdain, half an hour later. And they say New York has lost its edge.

The trunk show itself is a fairly impressive collection of stuff that is awesome. “It’s almost like Pitti,” I told David at one point. “Almost,” he agreed. “You should make that the title of your post.”
Can do, David.

It is pretty cool though. Franco Ercole, the bespoke tailor, also makes wine (go figure), Kent Wang has all these cool pocket squares that I want, JP Marcellino makes Briefcases with these tiny, beautiful combination locks on them, and there’s even a mannequin playing a violin. That’s Sebastian Ward’s thing, and I don’t know what it has to do with shirts, but I’m all for it. The offerings from HonourMark, No Man Walks Alone and Epaulet are as good as you might expect. Oh - and lest we forget - Eidos is here, taking measurements and doing their thing.
More importantly, Jen started eyeing the whiskey at 11:08 AM, which is perhaps forgivable based on the fact that she has to deal with math all day long. By 12:12 she had moved on to Moscow Mules, and dragged everyone else along behind her in her torrid wake. And so, by 1PM, we all felt we’d really arrived - and that was about the time the food showed up.
From the streetwear side; Afixedpoint showed up, as did Ken P, Pick Pack Pock Puck, Ghostface, LarryR, and several people whose handles I never caught. I did a poor job of introducing myself to the classic folks, but (don’t repeat this) I was never really sure which of them were there to shop and which were there to work. I’ll make a point of doing a better job today - but the point is they all looked nice.  Shouldn’t surprise you, really.

I got to try on Monitaly’s absolutely BOSS NASTY (is that a phrase?) mountain parka, along with a selection of too-small Schneider, which I appreciated. I had no real desire to take the mountain parka off, but I forced myself to since if I hadn’t it probably would have melted into me and I would have been forced to buy it.
I’d love to go into greater detail about the evening, but I hit a mental wall at some point due to incredible lack of sleep. I will say that afixedpoint’s cheekbones are unfair, Ken P is about as jolly a guy as you could ever hope to meet, ghostface really does look dope in person - and the list goes on. Let it be a lesson to you who decided not to come yesterday: you missed out, make it there today.

Now, the pictures:

Quinton of Eidos doin' his thing

Kent Wang's offerings

The Parka.

Here's Kyle of NMWA looking, as he put it, "like someone from Copenhagen"

Industrial chic. Right?

Swatches at Epaulet

Kyle, showing off a TS(S) denim puffer coat and a Gray crewneck

NoMan and Sebastian Ward looking fan-say

HonourMark!

Lots of browsing, here

And the traditional shoe-circle.

Your feet could join us in this picture. In the words of Picard: Make it so.

Nice.

Ps. Check the vendor threads for their Instagram accounts for more photos. I know that noman and epaulet have accounts (@nomanwalksalone and @epaulet), but I am not certain about the others. My own is @child_of_scorn.

Given the three full pages of live stream spam over in CM, SW&D ought to feel blessed or neglected, but which?

I guess it depends on your opinion of these things. I hope I'm not neglecting you guys.

I don't think the thread is a bad idea - I just can't be bothered to join in.

Gray is such a confusing name, for a clothing brand and do they have a website.
