also lol at a 300 chinese made sweatshirt shit should retail for 70 bux

No worries, I still wear my Context Roy boots regularly...Alden still makes great shoes, although pricing is wack. Too many better options now.

I don't think anyone would have predicted that thread would become the creepfest that it is today. Did Alden fetishists exist before then?

Beard Beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does Beard Beer taste like? Try it, we think you’ll be surprised…

Not a fan? sarcasm.gif

The wang h&m stuff is pretty nice irl, surprisingly so as long as you avoid the heavily logo'don't stuff

Sold some sneakers to a guy on ebay and he's been a total dick about it. Paid at the last minute to meet terms (something about paying for aggregate purchases), sent me a message every day before I shipped asking for a tracking number. This for a pair of $30 sneakers that cost $15 to ship (which he's not paying for, but that's not his fault). Thought "I'll google this asshole. I bet he's an asshole." First hit: an hourlong presentation he gave--this is the first slide.

Fuck you, armchair Thomas Aquinas. Your tracking number is 9110 9286 3956 GFY. I hope USPS loses your shoes and I have to refund your money.

I agree, but at the same time there's a certain mystique or romance (for lack of a better term) surrounding heritage-type clothing that's made in America, Japan, Germany, whatever. True or not, it gives the impression that something was made by skilled craftspeople who obsess over details, have been doing whatever they're doing for decades, and have a sense of investment in both the process and the product; if something's made in China, on the other hand, it gives the impression that manufacturing was outsourced to the factory with the lowest bid.

Vaguely xenophobic? Patently untrue? Probably, but it's a perception that exists nonetheless.

Copy that. The jackets tend to be cozy and well-fitting. And made in Canada, IME. shog[1].gif

I just picked up a shirt made with a Liberty of London floral print for about 80% off (made in Romania).

Rest assured, no one will buy it until it hits $70, tops. Sometimes it seems like the prices are artificially inflated so people will think they're getting a good deal once end-of-season sales hit.

4 or 5 tomorrow is my ETA as well.

Unrelated but considering the beer chat as of late, we are doing another Beer-It-Forward for the holiday season this year, if you have an interest in beer you should get involved. Should be a lot of fun!

but do you still have to pay the proxy service with a bank transfer and no paypal?

I have less than 20 hrs to end of auction and going nutz over this 'cuz doing a bank wire seems such a hassle vs paypal

Nah I'd just use paypal / credit card and take the hit on fees in that case.

bank transfer is good if you're proxying from a store and there's no time limit.
